To support our growth and strengthen our presence in the spices market, we are seeking a dedicated and results-driven Business Development Manager – Spices for our Mexico operations.

Please note: This role is primarily focused on product business development, particularly processed and manufactured food products. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Food & Beverage solutions, be able to leverage insights from our North America Spices team, and translate that knowledge into actionable strategies for the Mexican market.

Position Summary:

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities in the spice sector, driving revenue growth, and building strategic relationships with suppliers and manufacturers. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly analytical, and has a strong understanding of sourcing and food manufacturing in Mexico.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Research & Analysis

  • Identify and evaluate potential manufacturers and suppliers for Chile, Capsicums, Peppers, and Beans in Mexico.
  • Analyze domestic and export supply trends, crop production, and supplier capabilities.
  • Monitor competitor activities and customer needs to identify new business opportunities.
  • Conduct SWOT analyses to assess supplier strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
  • Provide insights on local tax regulations and compliance requirements related to products.

Strategic Sourcing & Partnerships

  • Generate leads through networking, cold calling, online research, and industry events.
  • Qualify leads and prioritize opportunities based on potential value and alignment with company goals.
  • Vet and validate product costing and associated expenses to manage budgets effectively.

Relationship Building & Networking

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders to establish long-term strategic partnerships with growers and processors.
  • Represent Olam Agro México at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events.
  • Promote the company brand and build awareness in the market.

Sales & Negotiation

  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to maximize profitability.
  • Close deals and achieve sourcing targets.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure smooth client handovers.

Strategic Planning & Development

  • Work with internal teams (demand forecasting, sales, innovation) to align sourcing strategies.
  • Track and report business development activities and results.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive business development plan.

Client Retention & Growth

  • Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling to existing clients.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Experience:
  • Proven track record in business development or sourcing.
  • Experience in food sourcing or manufacturing in Mexico.
  • Experience with ERP software (SAP preferred).
  • Skills:
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and research capabilities.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Advanced English (spoken and written)

Reporting Line:

Reports directly to the SVP & Business Head – Chiles
