We are seeking our next 
Tax Controller
 to join our team in Mexico.

The Role

As a Tax Controller, you will manage complex tax operations in Mexico and the Caribbean for Tortuga Resorts companies, ensuring full compliance with tax obligations and optimizing tax strategies. This role involves representing the entity in audits with tax authorities, analyzing deferred taxes, managing tax reporting, and implementing risk mitigation strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely compliance with all local, federal, and international tax obligations for assigned entities, including direct and indirect taxes, local taxes, withholdings, PTU, and informative returns (DIOT, relevant operations, ISSIF, AML, shareholder changes, transfer pricing).
  • Coordinate with accounting, finance, treasury, legal, asset management, and hotel operators, as well as external advisors, to ensure proper application of tax legislation.
  • Represent the group companies in audits, requirements, reviews, and tax controversies.
  • Design tax compliance policies and procedures and support implementation of strategies for tax optimization aligned with current legislation.
  • Analyze deferred taxes and prepare tax reporting, including attributes such as CUCA, CUFIN, tax losses, and stock cost basis.
  • Support business operations in transactions such as acquisitions, mergers, restructures, pricing, and contract reviews.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and evaluate their impact on operations.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Law; Master's or Diploma in National and International Taxation preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years in tax management roles, with proven managerial experience in fiscal matters. Experience in both industry and consulting is essential.
  • Language: Spanish and advanced English.
  • Certifications: Tax certifications or equivalent courses.
