Procurement Engineer Intern to
join our Procurement Organization in Cooper Lighting division in Cienega de Flores, NL, Mexico.

Our intern will be focused only on NPI's (New product introduction) for the Cooper Lighting division. The role is to provide service to the projects in order to achieve the launch in time and also delivering direct material savings.

What You'll Do

  • Work with engineering team on the creation of the total list of materials needed to build a new product. Responsible to meet a total cost target in order to achieve material savings.
  • Create and analyze business cases for each projects from a procurement perspective. Create the best sourcing strategy that mitigates risk and improves the cost.
  • Supports managing and tracking inventory levels of the old (to be obsoleted) and new (to be introduced) products into the market for procurement savings projects
  • Work with the Supplier Quality team in new component release for mass production.
  • Supports standardization and complexity reduction to maximize productivity and material cost savings
  • Support price negotiations with suppliers with fact-based information and opportunities to drive short term product cost reduction improvement.
  • Keeps procurement programs updated for vendors managed locally
  • Support team member Procurement Engineers with Vendor Master Data updates, request for quotations to suppliers, Invoices, among other activities.
  • Loading material price information into SAP (ERP used in the company)
  • Procurement contractual data updates (price, lead time, MOQ, vendor information)

What You'll Need

  • Currently in pursuit of a Bachelors
  • Excellent communication, organizational and people skills and the ability to work across functional groups
  • Strong MS Office skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
