Data Engineer

The Data Engineer reports to the ERP Systems Manager and is responsible for leading the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and integrations within the SAP S/4HANA environment to enable business capabilities and services across the enterprise. In this role, the Data Engineer will work with business stakeholders to understand their data needs, designing and implementing data architectures, and ensuring the quality and integrity of data within the SAP S/4HANA system. The Data Engineer will also collaborate extensively with our Enterprise Data and Analytics team, adopting and extending the enterprise data architecture and standards to build data enablement and integration solutions in Rich’s Enterprise Data Platform powered by Microsoft Azure, to support critical path analytics outcomes for the organization.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and integrations within the SAP S/4HANA environment, including data workloads required to support our enterprise data platform (Microsoft Azure)
- Work with Enterprise Data and Analytics team in the design, development and maintenance of data pipelines and integrations between SAP S/4HANA and Enterprise Data Platform (Microsoft Azure)
- Work with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate these into functional requirements for the data engineering team
- Design and implement data architectures that meet the needs of the business and ensure the quality and integrity of data within the SAP S/4HANA system
- Collaborate with Enterprise Data and Analytics team to design and implement data architecture that meet the needs of enterprise data and analytics key outcomes
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure the successful execution of data-related projects
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in SAP S/4HANA data management and related technologies (i.e. Microsoft Azure)

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Data Management, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field is required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a data engineer
- Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA data management and integration concepts
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure data management and integration concepts
- Experience leading the design and development of data pipelines and integrations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Self-driven and action-oriented
- Network with internal and external partners
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience working with SAP S/4HANA (HANA Views)
- Must be hands-on/well-verses in Python/PySpark coding and scripting
- Strong expertise and hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks preferred
- Databricks Lakehouse architecture experience strongly preferred
- Programming/Coding Skills and familiarity with software and system engineering design principles & standards (e.g., TDD)
- Experience with data modeling and data architecture design
- Experience with data visualization tools a plus
- Experience leveraging IDE and source code editors (e.g., Visual Studio Code)
