**Job summary**
Job Overview: Uses CAD and computer-aided engineering (CAE) software (i.e. Catia or Solidworks and HyperWorks, ANSA, ABAQUS respectively) to design and analyze component models for composite parts in order to optimize the component performance, durability, manufacturability, and cost. Prepares and reports analysis findings in design review documents and presentations to global engineering team for internal and customer use.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
Essential Functions: - Create component designs including detailed Catia models based on customer performance requirements, iterating designs based on CAE results. - Perform CAE analysis to iterate component designs in order to achieve optimal design balancing performance, durability, manufacturability, and cost. - Prepare design review presentations which include component design details and analysis results. - Creates detailed CAD assembly models in SolidWorks or Catia including internally designed and purchased components. - Work with global product development team to ensure component designs are within Mubea standards for performance, durability, and manufacturability. - Create and maintain draping (layering) plans required to produce desired component geometry. - Create detailed CAD models of tool designs based on completed spring geometry. - Understand customer basic requirements and expectations for new product design and improved designs and document processes for repeatability. - Develop engineering designs with mínimal supervision. - Implement engineering changes as required. - Develop alternative design solutions or quick engineering solutions for complex problems. - Maintain records of all activities and results in CAE project database. - Participate in design review meetings to provide appropriate recommendations. - Ensure that all work carried out is in compliance with company design, safety, quality, environmental compliance & procedural standards. - Communicate with team members and customers on all projects related matters. - Provide timely design guidance and support to team to meet customer requirements. - Assist management in establishing and updating project plans and priorities. - Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization. - Is willing to learn CAE and travel to abroad for 3 to 6 months for training.
**Your profile**
Required Education & Experience: - Bachelor’s Degree (B. S.) or equivalent; or 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Knowledge of: internet software, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. - Must have experience in 3D CAD design and drawing creation in Catia, SolidWorks, or similar CAD package. - Must have knowledge of engineering product design and design for manufacturing. - Must have knowledge of inputs, outputs, raw materials, waste, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing the manufacturing and distribution of goods. - A general knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools, and instruments involved in the production and use of detailed drawings and 3D CAD models. - Must have a basic knowledge or training in 5's, Lockout & tagout, Hazcom, Plant Safety, ISO 14001, HazWaste, and environmental and quality standards. Preferred Education and Experience: - Experience designing composite components for the automotive industry. - Good understanding of automotive systems such as chassis, body and suspension. - Experience using CAE software including pre and post processing tools such as ANSA, HyperMesh, HyperView, and solvers such as ABAQUS or ANSYS. - Experience using scripts (such as in Python) to execute tasks. - Experience working in an environment where immediate technical support is not always available and problems or issues must be solved independently. - Experience in automotive manufacturing and /or engineering and sales driven businesses. - Experience working in a Germany based (international) organization. - Bilingual German/Spanish a plus The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
