**About the role**:
As Engineering manager at Beat, you will play a crucial role in building our brand new Technology Hub in Mexico City. You will be responsible for building and leading a cross-functional team of backend, frontend and mobile engineers working on the development of a primarily greenfield product. With this team, you will drive development, delivery and operation of the systems that make BEAT’s game-changing electromobility (e.g. Tesla) services possible. Your goal as an Engineering Manager at Beat will be to create a scalable, efficient team, capable of autonomously delivering complex end-to-end technological solutions.

As an engineering manager at Beat, you will
- Ensure your team delivers projects on time and to high quality standards, by creating an environment where engineers can function at their best
- Use your technical expertise to guide the design of technical solutions in order to ensure your team delivers robust, scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Identify problems and bottlenecks in team processes and implement solutions that focus on making sure everyone in your team knows what is expected of them, why and how.
- Guide and facilitate the growth of your team members through coaching and mentoring
Ensure the well-being of each individual on your team. As a manager, you want a stable, happy and well-functioning team
- Manage the performance of your employees, which includes individual goal setting, providing regular performance feedback, conducting performance reviews, and acting on the cases of both low and high performance accordingly.
- Build relationships with stakeholders to understand their needs in order to help the engineering team translate business problems into technical solutions
- Lead by example by contributing to the code, demonstrating good engineering and testing practices, participating in incident response and resolving issues

**About you**:
You’re a solid communicator. You enjoy working in a small, close-knit team consisting of multiple engineering crafts, but you also like to build close relationships with your stakeholders.

Although you have chosen to pursue a career in management, you’re a seasoned engineer, who still likes to be hands-on when the opportunity arises. While you still like to unleash your inner grease monkey on occasions, you will look at the big picture first before diving into the details.

You care more about solving problems than about working with a specific language or technology.

Your pragmatism and technical experience allows you to effectively balance your curiosity for exploring and trying new technologies, engineering perfection and tackling technical debt.

As a manager, you’re motivated to help people be the best they can be, see them collaborate effectively, help them improve if necessary, and will ensure they receive credit for their achievements

**What you need to have**:

- At least 1 year of experience as an engineering manager or team lead, where you had formal responsibility for employees’ growth and performance management.
- Solid experience in one or more languages like: Go, PHP, Python, C#, Java or Kotlin, JavaScript, Typescript, etc with more than 3 years of proven, production-grade software development expertise.
- Good understanding of distributed systems and architecture.
- Experience with relational databases.
- Experience with distributed databases (such as Cassandra, MongoDB, CoachDB or others) and Apache Kafka is a plus.
- You believe in taking full ownership for your work, from design to testing to release and operation.

**What’s nice to have**:

- Experience working in a cross functional team of Backend, Frontend, Mobile and/or other crafts.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams is a big plus.
