This role is based out of our new and exciting Mexico City Office. Mexico City is our first office outside of the US, and you'll be one of the first employees there, helping us build the office from scratch and shape an amazing culture. We're headquartered in New York City, with a large presence in Atlanta, GA, as well as innovation hubs & remote talent across the U.S. BetterCloud is backed, among others, by some of the best technology investors Vista Equity Partners, Warburg Pincus, Bain Capital, and Accel.

As BetterCloud's first Director of Software Development in Mexico,** **you love to build high-performing software development teams, lead those teams with a people-first quality-first mentality, and provide them with career development opportunities that keep them excited about working at BetterCloud. You will be managing a team of engineering managers and teaching them to be great leaders who can mentor highly efficient and quality-driven software development teams. You will be the software development leader of our Mexico office and a key initial hire for our new office there. As a leader of leaders, our ideal person puts the team ahead of themselves, thinks holistically about organizational health, and has a keen focus on engineering hygiene and efficient processes.

We handle eye-popping amounts of data and API requests, and use a variety of exciting technologies. Our tech stack includes React, Java, Scala, Kafka, Flink, and a variety of data stores. **About You**:

- 10+ years experience building enterprise level software solutions
- 5+ years (most recently) leading and managing engineering teams and engineering managers
- Ability to work with Product Management on strategic roadmap discussions
- Comfortable talking with customers and senior executives, both inside and outside the company
- Ability to mentor and coach software engineering managers with various levels of experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be highly collaborative

**What You'll Do**
- You will be our first Director of Software Development** **in Mexico City, and we'll look to you for guidance along the way
- Hire an amazing software development team to deliver on key portions of our company roadmap
- Act as a mentor, leader, and manager for the software engineers and managers on their team
- Build a tight relationship with our Product Management and UX Design team, and work with them to develop the roadmap for their team(s) and then execute against the roadmap
- Collaborate with architects and technical leaders to help define, evangelize, and achieve the overall technical vision of BetterCloud
- As a continuous improvement advocate, you constantly look for ways to make your team more efficient. You embrace KPIs and treat them as tools we can use to improve
- Act as a coach and cheerleader for your team. You celebrate wins You look for learning opportunities in the misses
- Willingness to work out of our Mexico City Office at least 3 days per week
- Be the senior local engineering leader partnering with Mexico GM to shape and support BetterCloud and engineering culture in BCMX

**Goals**

By the end of week 1, you will have:

- Met with your key stakeholders and peers in Mexico and the United States
- Investigated our current architecture and software development pipeline
- Familiarized yourself with BetterWay (our Definition and Build process)
- Obtained access to the systems you will need to do your best work

By the end of 30 days, you will have:

- Begun the hiring process for your development team
- Worked with your Product Management team to establish an initial roadmap and delivery forecasts
- Established a regular cadence of touchpoints with your peers and stakeholders
- Collaborated with your BCMX colleagues to build the culture and employee experience for our Mexico City location
