The Electronic and Electrical Component Engineer position develops, improves, and troubleshoots electronic/electrical hardware used in an array of engine and machine systems. This generally includes the development of product requirements, analysis and simulation, electronic component selection, schematic/layout development, and platform verification and validation.

**Job Purpose**:
This is the third career level in engineering and represents a shift from learning and assisting to fully contributing to assignments that are broader, more complex, and challenging in nature.

**Job Duties**:

- Completing design activities, requirements gathering, test standardization and validation.
- Supplier collaboration: Design for Manufacturing / Assembly, New Product Introduction / APQP
- Product line responsibility and managing platform and technical strategy.
- Her/his process partners include electrical and electronic component product line teams, machine and engine product groups and outside test houses, which include suppliers.
- Manage component end of life (EOL) and obsolescence.
- Process factory and field returns and drive failure analysis
- Staying abreast of advances in electronics and implement those in cost-effective solutions for Caterpillar clients.

**Background/Experience**:

- Bachelor or Master degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum (Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics or Mechatronic)
- 1-5 years of experience in embedded electronic hardware development
- Demonstrated excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments.
- Requires strong technical project leadership.
- Must have strong problem solving skills and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively.
- Fluent in English and good communications skills
