- Generates bids, negotiates for best price and issues sales agreement for scrap and asset sales
- Performs financial analysis, assesses asset fair market value (FMV) and the marketability of individual assets in comparison to removal costs, other expenses, asset type, location, timing, market conditions age and condition of assets, union issues, etc.
- Collaborates, negotiates, communicates, monitors and executes disposition plans with Business Units (i.e. asset stewards/operators) and Asset Recovery Governance Board (ARGB)
- Manages large asset disposal projects - such as plant closings
- Ensures that import/export laws, regulations and procedures are adhered to
- Develops and manages customers under the guidance of Quality, Service, Technology and Price strategies
- Adheres to Corporate and unit purchasing and accounting policies and procedures
- Active participation with Cross Function Disciplines
- Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
- Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise
- Develops marketing plans for individual commodities
- Develops and executes business plan to meet business priorities
- Follows and responds to changing market price trends
- Supports activity in the timely removal of assets and materials
- Researches and/or visits potential customers to evaluate their potential for purchases and work with Finance to determine their credit worthiness
- Develops an in-depth product and process knowledge base about the commodity and supplier base including thorough understanding of the entire value added chain and cost drivers through supplier workshops, plant visits, technical review, benchmarking activity, etc.
- Guards against restrictive requirements that constrain customer alternatives, low cost solutions and innovation
- Keeps Safety and Security requirements at the forefront of all GM disposal activity (assets and/or scrap)
