HOW YOU WILL DO IT As a Sr Mechanical Engineer at Plexus Engineering Solutions, you will own the design and development of mechanical engineering/product concepts across a wide range of industries. This role collaborates with talented Software, Hardware, Quality, Product, Manufacturing, Test, and User Center Design engineers from all over the globe, and it sees all phases of the product development life cycle - from idea and conceptualize; through requirements, design, and development; to transitioning to manufacturing and into the market. You will collaborate directly with a huge portfolio of world renowned customers to develop the next generation of products that have a positive impact on millions of people worldwide. - Develop mechanical engineering/product concepts that are high-quality, cost-appropriate, and satisfy the customer's requirements while establishing an area of technical specialty and mentoring others on the team. For this, you need to have the following qualifications: - Knowledge of 3D modeling and drawing development (CAD tools) (e.g. SolidWorks, Creo, NX, etc.) - Understanding of data management and vaulting systems (e.g. PDM, Windchill, etc.) - Understanding of multiple fabrication technologies (e.g. machining, injection molding, sheet metal, weldments, extrusions, etc.) - Experience with analytical tools for thermal and/or structural analysis (e.g. SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS) - Understanding of kinematics and mechanism design - Experience with prototype building and development techniques (e.g. 3D Printing, Hand Tools, Mill, Laser Cutting, etc.) - Evaluation and Testing experience. - Experience in Design For Manufacturing (DFM), Design For Assembly (DFA), Design To Cost (DTC) - Experience in GD&T and Tolerance Stack Up Analysis - Cross-discipline experience - Produce comprehensive project documentation in accordance with the quality and change management procedures and guidelines. Your education, experience, & continued professional development... - A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is almost always required for this position. Bachelor’s degrees in other related Engineering fields will be considered if strong Mechanical Engineering background can be shown - Five (5) or more years of industry experience (Mechanical Design, Product Development, etc.) - Ability and desire to lead projects from a technical capacity - Passion for mentorship and willingness to help develop junior engineers - Work style assessments and performance evaluations guide development at every career stage Additional Accountabilities: - Supports the Lean culture and effectively utilizes Lean Sigma concepts and tools to identify and eliminate waste while improving processes. - Possess and demonstrate the Plexus Values (Customer Focus, Relationships and Teamwork, Excellence, Open Communication, and Integrity). - Possess and demonstrate Plexus Leadership Behaviors (Prioritize Our People, Be Courageous, Solve Problems, Innovate, and Be Strategic). - Occasional travel may be required to meet the needs of the business (estimated
