Chief Software Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled **Chief Software Engineer**to join our Engineering Effectiveness team.

This role is centered on integrating AI-powered developer tools to streamline workflows and enhance engineering productivity. You will work closely with multiple teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions for tasks such as code comprehension, automated documentation, and testing, while spearheading the adoption of modern technologies and methodologies.

**Responsibilities**
- Collaborate with internal teams to implement AI-powered tools like GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q, Windsurf, and similar IDEs into development workflows
- Build and manage AI-driven solutions for tasks including code comprehension, automated documentation, and test generation
- Partner with engineering teams to identify bottlenecks in development workflows and implement effective solutions
- Contribute to backend development with occasional full-stack involvement using technologies like Java, Kotlin, Go, TypeScript, React, and Next.js
- Enhance shared tools, APIs, CLI utilities, and automation pipelines integrated with systems such as Active Directory, ServiceNow, Snowflake, and Kafka
- Develop and deploy AI-enabled solutions from proof-of-concept to production, serving as a technical liaison for product and platform teams
- Collaborate with cloud and infrastructure teams to utilize AWS services (EKS, Lambda, SQS, SNS), Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, GitHub Actions, and ArgoCD
- Promote secure coding standards, implement automated testing, and support continuous delivery to uphold engineering excellence
- Provide feedback and innovative ideas to improve the adoption and effectiveness of AI tools and engineering practices

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- At least 7 years of experience in software engineering, with expertise in distributed and cloud-native systems
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in leadership and team management roles
- Experience in at least 2 full-cycle projects or participation in multiple projects across various development lifecycle phases
- Proficiency in Java and familiarity with TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q, Windsurf, or similar IDEs
- Proven track record of modernizing legacy systems using Generative AI for tasks such as refactoring, cloud migrations, or breaking down monolithic architectures
- In-depth understanding of AWS cloud services or comparable platforms like GCP or Azure
- Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipeline implementation
- Knowledge of event-driven systems and tools such as Kafka or SQS
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment focused on AI-driven strategies
- Dedication to engineering best practices, including TDD, BDD, DDD, and Clean Architecture principles
- Proficient English communication skills, both written and spoken, at a B2 level or higher

**Nice to have**
- Advanced skills in prompt engineering for AI tools
- Full-stack development experience, including frontend frameworks like React and Next.js
- Familiarity with additional AI tools such as Cognition Devin or Claude Code
- Exposure to developer enablement platforms and internal tools like Backstage or CLI utilities
- Experience with observability solutions such as OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Splunk, or Prometheus
