Senior Cloud Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join a large-scale cloud transformation initiative within a highly regulated insurance environment. This role will focus on designing and building cloud infrastructure for a new policy administration platform, with an emphasis on Microsoft Azure and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.

This is a senior-level position with strong involvement in architectural planning and cloud strategy, particularly during the initial phase of the program. The engineer will collaborate closely with technical leadership and business stakeholders to ensure cloud solutions are secure, scalable, and compliant with regulatory standards.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Design, architect, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions primarily on Microsoft Azure, supporting both PaaS and IaaS environments.
- Provide standard patterns and best practices for cloud architecture, security, and deployment.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize cloud environments for reliability and cost efficiency.
- Implement and enforce cloud security policies, identity management, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Configure and manage virtual networks, firewalls, and access controls.
- Contribute to high-level system architecture and strategic design decisions during early phases of the program.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response activities as required.
- Collaborate with technical leads and cross-functional teams to align cloud strategy with business and platform needs.
- Support DevOps processes and automation using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
- Work within a Windows-based cloud environment.
- Engage in continuous improvement of cloud operations, governance, and engineering practices.

**Requirements**:

- Senior-level experience designing and managing cloud infrastructure solutions.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services, particularly PaaS and IaaS architectures.
- Experience with AWS and/or GCP cloud platforms.
- Proven experience using Infrastructure as Code tools, especially Terraform.
- Experience working with GitHub for source control and collaboration; familiarity with Jenkins is a plus.
- Strong understanding of cloud security principles, including identity management, access controls, firewalls, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience configuring and managing virtual networks, security groups, and firewall policies.
- Ability to monitor cloud performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize cloud costs.
- Experience working in regulated environments such as insurance, financial services, or healthcare is highly desirable.
- Ability to participate in on-call rotations and incident response activities.
- Experience contributing to high-level system architecture and strategic design decisions.
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices and tools.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to align cloud strategy with business needs.
