Safety Engineer

The Safety Engineer is responsible for providing leadership and support within Omron's Safety Services Team. He or She will provide customer and project management for safety projects in Mexico, LATAM and USA and ensure that all Safety Services Department policies and procedures are being adhered to.

**General Responsibilities **include but are not limited to**:

- Perform machine and process safeguarding compliance audits (machine safeguarding assessment/risk reduction reviews) to determine level of compliance with local, state, federal and corporate regulations and applicable consensus standards.
- Prepare, deliver and present reports, analysis and quotations of proposed risk reduction systems to prospective customers.
- Design and specify machine safety system solutions that are accurate and comply with relevant standards and regulations.
- Develop and conduct training and presentations on capabilities, products, and regulatory and best practice safety standards, including machine safeguarding training programs for customers.
- Communicate with integration installation teams to ensure that information gathered during the evaluation is usable in preparing for projects (BOM's, tools, manpower, guarding methods, etc.).
- Complete, maintain, and process pertinent paperwork, reports and records as required in a timely manner (timesheets, service and expense reports, etc.).
- Other duties and functions as assigned
- Ability to develop safety controller programs
- Collaborate with Engineering Review on site, Installation and Validation process when requested
- Ensure that all Safety Services Department policies and procedures are being adhered to

**Other Activities **include but are not limited to**:

- Participate in safety services proposals delivery process
- Develop/ Review electrical and mechanical bill of materials utilizing necessary resources
- Coordinate safety projects, acting as single point of contact
- Organize necessary meetings with customer(s) to provide follow-up
- Generate all necessary project paperwork as timing, schedules, etc.
- Monitor project progress
- Assure customer's needs and requirements are meet during the entire project

**SKILLS, BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE**
- Has been in a prior position that required the use and knowledge of applicable industrial machinery safety standards (OSHA, ANSI, CSA, EN, ISO, etc.)
- Has had sales or technical sales experience in the automation or safety industry.
- Has experience in conducting training, technical product support, and presentations on capabilities, products and operational effectiveness of manufacturing machinery.
- Has successfully written technical manuals or other operating procedures in a manufacturing environment.
- Have strong analytical skills and the ability to convert identified needs into product solutions as well as strategies into executable actions. Examples required.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Ability to gather, retain and share information.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Has strong computer skills.
- Possess the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Advanced working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic concepts is preferred.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude

**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**:

- Bachelor of Electrical or Mechanical, Engineering from a four-year college or related technical school.
- **TUV FS Certification or Similar credentials**:

- Minimum of five (5) years of technical support or training or field service experience.
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) is required.
- Experience with large-scale project and program management; including skills and in depth understanding of project management methodology, project management planning, issue tracking and reporting, etc.
- Ability to communicate utilizing Power Point, Excel spread sheets, graphs, and other business communication tools.
- Possess international experience and exposure to operating across a variety of cultures.
- Excellent leadership, communication (written and oral), presentation and interpersonal skills
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Professional, dedicated and detail oriented.
