System Eng. IT

The System Eng. IT - Windows Servers will support and manage core and advance Windows Server systems and SAN storage services from a global perspective withing the IT COE. The position will have the responsibility for developing global standards, processes, and procedures for Windows Server infrastructure. At times there will be a need to coordinate with locations in other countries that will require discussions or meeting attendance outside of normal working hours.

The System Eng. IT - Windows Servers will help direct technical work functions related to Windows Server systems from the COE, and in collaboration with Global Server teams. Responsible for supporting the Windows Server needs, including the delivery of server infrastructure services, hardware and software planning, vendor selection, acquisition, Tier 2 problem resolution, managing projects that provide set-up, integration, testing and installation of server solutions. Additionally, this position performs work maintaining and monitoring backup/restore functions on a global basis.

The person filling this position may be called outside of normal business hours to support IT projects and IT functions within the responsibility of the position.

**What You'll Do**

- Build, operate, and maintain IT platforms including Cisco UCS, NetApp Storage Arrays, Nutanix hyper converged systems, and individual servers
- Build, operate, and maintain servers and storage globally from the COE. Includes Windows virtual servers, Hyper-V, host servers using, Nutanix, VMWare, and bare metal servers using Windows Server Operating systems.
- Integrate Windows Server environments with Azure services and managing Windows Server in on-premises networks.
- Investigate, review, and recommend new server and storage technologies including cloud-based systems for future consideration and implementation.
- Manage projects, design, and implement cloud infrastructure for on-prem server migration to the cloud, and work collaborative with Global Server teams.
- Build, Update, and Patch server OS's and hardware firmware
- Perform ITSM functions including change management, incident response, and operational functions.
- On occasion, work at data center co-location office to address needs at that facility
- Provide supervision to off-shore Windows and Storage resource.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- Minimum 5 years' experience configuring and managing with Windows Server operating systems in a Global IT Organization
- Should have expertise in implementing and managing on-premises and hybrid solutions, such as identity, management, compute, networking, and storage.
- Should have expertise at performing tasks related to security, migration, monitoring, high availability, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery.
- Experienced in designing, building, deploying and operationally maintaining complex IT infrastructures on a global basis.
Must have experience of interacting with 3rd party suppliers & service providers across multiple sites & countries on an operational level
- Capable of managing outsource service providers.
- Must be able to travel (Note: Minimal travel required.)
- Willing and capable of learning new skills and knowledge related to job functions.

**REQUIRED SKILLS**:
***
- Capability to organize and manage projects and project documentation. Ability architect storage and Windows systems to modernize Gates' infrastructure.
- Demonstrated capability and experience in managing RedHat or equivalent Windows Systems and legacy HPUX systems.
- Experience with Netapp, EMC or other SAN systems, including working with network engineers to architect and configure SAN switches.
- Demonstrated capability to build Windows systems, including the user of an automation tool such as Chef or Puppet.
- Capability to trouble shoot complex issues related to storage and Windows systems.
- Capability to manage Unix, Linux and windows server operating systems, and file systems
- Demonstrated capability and experience in managing storage systems including Disk Arrays, Storage Area Network Switches, Disk partitioning, LUN creation, and general storage system configuration/trouble shooting.
Experience with Nagios or Xenos is desired.
- Experience with cloud migration and project management is desired.
