Senior Associate, Market Expert

**Your Team Responsibilities**: This is an exciting opportunity to join us as a Market Expert with MSCI's ESG Ratings team. MSCI ESG Ratings team members rate companies on a ‘AAA' to ‘CCC' scale based on its exposure to industry specific ESG risks and their ability to manage those risks relative to industry peers. The team follows a rules-based methodology to determine the ESG rating. The companies rated are spread across the developed and emerging markets, and range in size from large to small scale. In addition to rating companies, market experts provide insight on ESG-regulatory developments and sustainability trends for the region they are based in.
- Support implementation of quality control measures and oversee research conducted by other members of the team;
- Be the go-to person for the region under coverage, creating/sharing knowledge of the market(s) with the ESG Ratings team;
- Coordinate with internal and external suppliers in enhancing the quality of the data sourced;
- Contribute to ongoing improvements of the ESG ratings model;
- Contribute to implementing processes critical for ensuring operational stability
- ** Your skills and experience that will help you excel**: - 5+ years of experience working in credit or equity research, or similar. ESG related experience or experience covering Materials (Mining, Steel or Chemicals) is an advantage - but not a must. - Interest and/ or experience in the economic and regulatory landscape of Central/ South America. - Strong analytical skills and ability to articulate viewpoints. - Strong communication skills - both oral and written in English. - Comfortable working in a global team environment across hierarchies, functions, and geographies. - Proactive attitude and ability to work under minimum supervision.
