Sr. Packaging Engineer

Job Description Summary

Establish a close contact with divisions to get packaging project’s priority and from the packaging materials suppliers to identify new materials and cost saving opportunities. Assess packaging process risk. Recommend methods to identify open seals. Establish robust seal packaging processes with EOF, DOE, packaging validation execution and recommend ship test methodologies. Respond to observations related to seal integrity in compliance with FDA regulation, customer complaints and CAPA internal process. This position will provide day-to-day technical packaging support to manufacturing and work as a liaison between manufacturing & engineering throughout all production phases and develop and execute plans to improve process efficiency and cost saving projects.

- Sr. Packaging Engineer_

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or Packaging Engineering or proven experience of more than 5 years as packaging engineer preferably
- More than 5 years of applicable experience in packaging equipment like Form-Fill-Seal machines, tray sealers, band, and bar sealers. In addition, experience in packaging materials such as HDPE, LDPE, PET, Blown and Extruded multi-layer films, paper and Tyvek,

Knowledge and Skills:

- Experience and execution of Edge of failure (EOF) and Design of Experiments (DOE) studies.
- Ability to conceptualize ideas, and focus individuals and teams to drive projects to completion on time and on Budget.
- Significant experience in automated assembly technologies.
- Skills and experience to use statistical process and data analysis tools.
- Medical device industry experience required, preferably with broad technology appreciation in new product development.
- Project management skills to work across global businesses.
- Ability to communicate (written and spoken) effectively with management, technical and operation personnel.
- Leading groups.
- Ability to understand and communicate in English.

Responsabilities:

- The Sr. Packaging Engineer is responsible working under limited supervision with the divisions in the design and implementation of packaging solutions with emphasis in cost reductions and packaging materials standardization. Modify and/or assess existing design and packaging requirements per proposed material changes.
- To be able to delegate tasks and provide follow up of the activities of labeling room.
- Ability to provide leadership in different projects at the same time making sure due dates are met. Be able to take leadership on packaging processes, investigation, and improvement teams.
- Solve manufacturing and quality problems give direct support to the manufacturing operations.
- Implement corrective actions and responsible for the manufacturing optimization of the processes, scrap reduction, and values cost reductions.
- Responsible for validations in the processes involving IQ / OQ / PQ including equipment, sealers, new materials, and tools used for manufacturing process.
- Interact with other departments from division such as R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality and take leadership of technology transfer activities.
- Responsible for developing and maintain documentation of manufactory and quality.
- Supervise and instruct packaging equipment technician providing guidelines, support, and feedback.
- Contact and establish a working relationship with the packaging suppliers to review materials, processes, and quality.
- Support new product development and packaging initiatives and packaging design reviews.
- Proactively advise team leader and management of packaging developments which may affect product quality/specifications, Schedule, and budgeted cost.
