THE ROLE:
**Brake Sizing Engineer**
In this position, you will be responsible for delivering the brake system sizing analysis on Ford program(s). In your role as a sizing engineer, you will gather vehicle and brake component data as an input for the brake-sizing model and report performance against Ford requirements at appropriate program milestones.
**Position Duties**
- Lead brake sizing analysis for assigned program(s)
- CAE tool development for speed of use, capability, and interface compatibility to other global tools / models
- Incorporate optimization software into the brake sizing tool
- Conduct vehicle and laboratory studies to further improve model correlation
- Develop brake caliper and rotor catalog with a focus on maximum part sharing and scale benefits
- Conduct brake benchmarking of competitive products
- Maintain foundation brake benchmark database of Ford and competitors
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Related degree
- High English proficiency (reading, writing and speaking)
- Experiences in functional engineering desirable, preferably Chassis or Automotive related work experience (Ford, OEM, Supplier)
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Strong leadership skills - Inherent self-starter, self-motivated with strong drive for results
- Project management skills - Capable of managing projects by looking both at the big picture objectives and at detail administration to achieve these objectives
- Strong oral/written communication skills to lead group projects, issue resolution and management reviews
- Able to work in unfamiliar and unstructured situations and succeed
- Computer
- literate
- Proficiency in MS-Office/Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint
- 3D CAD software tools exposure (Catia / Teamcenter)
- Recognized in prior work assignments for demonstrated performance
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree desired
- Experience with foundation Brake component Design & Release and/or Systems Integration preferred
- Demonstrated problem solving capability
- Continuous improvement mindset
