**Job Description Summary**: This position is for an engineer within the Aviation Engineering Division's Production Technologies (PT) organization. In this role you will support engineering functions related to the production of rotating parts and compressor airfoils made by GE shops and external suppliers.
In this role, you will be on the front lines of a new organization that is dedicated to improving the producibility, enhancing the Engineering-Supply chain relationship to improve the health of the supply chain and product to enable the business to fulfil our customers' expectations.
Examples of specific tasks you will be responsible for are: producibility design changes, on-going manufacturing support, and strategic improvements on production related processes of the assigned hardware.
**Essential Responsibilities**
- Execute with some guidance the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects, using engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
- Document technical data generated to substantiate the solution of technical problems according to engineering policies and procedures.
- Provide timely communication regarding significant issues or developments.
- Interact with engineers from multiple disciplines, manufacturing & quality, and regularly exposed to commodity and industry experts.
- Travel to manufacturing sites to gain practical knowledge of manufacturing, ensure parts are made according to design intent, discuss producibility issues and explore proposals of cost reduction.
- Provide support to evaluate nonconforming hardware, producibility improvements, hardware delivery and vendor qualifications.
**Requirements and Qualifications**
- Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
- Experience in a relevant engineering role.
- Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position
- Ability to communicate across functions
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills with guidance.
- Fundamental understanding of turbomachinery system design.
**Desired Characteristics**
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Previous experience in design of Aviation components.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, especially of aerospace components.
- Flexible and friendly approach to work in teams.
- Experience with Ansys and NX
- Certification in ASME Y14 or practical experience with GD&T.
- Passion for problem solving and driving solutions, while constantly learning and mentoring
