As a Product Development Chemist, you will be part of a technical team responsible for product development of polyurethane, polysiloxane, polyaspartic and other high weatherable topcoats in both technology segments. You will report to S&T Product Development Supervisor. **Key Responsibilities** - Supply to technical solutions to challenging problems with a mindset - Create new or improved products with chemistries including polyurethane, polysiloxane and polyaspartic in solvent-based and water-based technologies - for Heavy Duty Protective and Marine markets - Work with manager in setting SMART project goals and timelines - Share ancillary tasks such as equipment maintenance and calibration, ordering raw materials and lab supplies, competitor benchmarking and other testing, and other support responsibilities. - Familiarity with production scale-up, launches, and maintenance of products. Help with manufacturing and field concerns through and root cause analysis - Product launch, field support and meetings may necessitate some travel and overnight stays, less than 10% - Will take direction from lead chemist. **Qualifications** - Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science or Chemical Engineering is required - Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience required - Formulating experience with coatings. - Knowledge of durable finish testing procedures and design of experiments principles is preferred - Search and interpret literature and is cognizant of competitor technology and intellectual property - Travel would result in less than 10% - Must have excellent English oral, written, and communication skills to deal with external customers and internal personnel; generate written reports; and make technical presentations. **About us**: **PPG: WE PROTECT AND BEAUTIFY THE WORLD** **The PPG Way** Every single day at PPG: **We partner with customers to create mutual value.** **We are "One PPG" to the world.** **We trust our people every day, in every way.** **We make it happen.** **We run it like we own it.** **We do better today than yesterday - everyday.** Benefits will be discussed with you by your recruiter during the hiring process.
