**What’s the role?**

Etsy is seeking an experienced Backend/API Software Engineer to join our dynamic and multidisciplinary app development team in Mexico. As a key member of our Growth: Drive Conversion Initiative, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the Etsy shopping experience. You will collaborate closely with native and backend engineers, as well as cross-functional partners, to design, develop, and implement exciting new features that empower buyers to shop with confidence. This role offers a direct opportunity to impact Etsy's goals and growth by building a seamless, intuitive, and trustworthy shopping experience that drives conversion and fosters long-term customer loyalty. Our team focuses on optimizing the entire buyer journey, and your contributions will be instrumental in achieving our mission.

**What does the day-to-day look like?**
- Prototype, optimize, and deploy large-scale product improvements that deliver key results.
- Run experiments and use data to identify solutions and validate product improvements.
- Collaborate with product managers, product designers, analysts, researchers, and other full-stack engineers to deliver high-quality features to our buyers.

**Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are**:

- 4+ years of experience in backend/API software engineering (or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., PHP, Java, Python, Node.js, Ruby).
- Experience with API design and development (RESTful APIs preferred).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
