POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE : Buyer

SCOPE:
Responsible for the proper and timely supply of raw materials to satisfy production schedules and maintain desirable inventory levels. Responsibilities also include maintenance of vendors’ information (Info Records, PPV, Blocked Invoices, Quality, Supplier Management Program, etc.) and maintenance of operational systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure raw material availability by placing Purchase Orders (POs) with vendors on time, ensuring confirmation and acceptable shipping dates. Expedite materials as needed. Reduction of Freight-In cost by the effective management of vendors. Effectively manage raw material inventory. Reduction of Excess and Obsolete material. Meet volume and mix metrics. Actively participate on any raw material cost savings initiative. (Phase in/Phase out analysis, Quotations, Cost analysis, Validation, etc.) Effectively manage Purchase Price Variances (PPV). Maintenance of Supplier Management Program Maintenance of Materials Review Report (MRR). Maintenance of SAP past due open transactions and Vendors’ info records. Maintenance of Blocked Invoices/QA Invoice Log. Comply with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies, procedures and regulatory. Additional duties as required. Ensure compliance with all applicable Regulations and Standards as defined in BD Quality and Environmental Manual and enterprise I.T.systems.

EDUCATION:
B.S., B.A. degree or equivalent work experience.

Bilingual.

APICS courses desirable

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of one year previous experience at any of the following positions: Procurement, Production Control, Logistics and/or Inventory Control
- Skills:

- Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of materials, products, and the commodity market in area of specialization.
- Skill in preparing and analyzing technical specifications and bids.
- Skill in both verbal and written communication.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
