We're looking for a Senior Browser-Based Device (BBD) Engineer to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to work on high-performance Smart TV applications across platforms like LG webOS, Samsung Tizen, and other connected TV ecosystems. As part of our engineering team, you'll play a key role in architecting, developing, and optimizing TV applications, ensuring smooth playback, pixel-perfect UIs, and high-quality user experiences across constrained devices. You'll collaborate with product, design, and QA teams while owning projects from technical design through release and certification.Key ResponsibilitiesArchitect, develop, and maintain Smart TV applications for LG webOS, Samsung Tizen, and other BBD platforms.Implement pixel-perfect UIs from Figma designs, adapting for device-specific limitations.Own the full development lifecycle: concept, packaging, certification, store submission, and post-release support.Optimize app performance, memory usage, navigation responsiveness, video playback.Integrate and extend SDK components and APIs (REST, WebSocket, gRPC, JSON-RPC).Manage media playback pipelines, including DRM integration, buffering, and adaptive streaming.Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for TV applications (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins).Troubleshoot, debug, and support apps in production.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features on time.Core Requirements3+ years building commercial TV applications for LG webOS, Samsung Tizen, or other connected TV platforms.Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, and experience with frameworks/libraries (React, Enact, Tizen APIs, webOS SDKs).Strong understanding of Smart TV app architectures and device constraints.Hands-on experience with media playback APIs, including strong experience with webOS and exposure to other platforms such as AVPlayer and ExoPlayer, including DRM and streaming.Experience building SDK components.Familiarity with remote control navigation paradigms and focus-based UI flows.Experience with application packaging, certification, and app store submissions.Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and debugging tools for connected TV apps.Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with designers, product managers, and QA.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.Nice-to-HaveExperience with other TV ecosystems (Fire TV, Roku, Android TV, VIDAA, RDK).Background in streaming media, OTT, or connected TV companies.Familiarity with automated testing for TV apps (unit, integration, UI).Knowledge of performance alerting and observability practices for media apps.AdditionalUS Timezone Overlap: 6-8 PSTWhy Join Kake?Kake is a remote-first company with a global community, fully believing that it's not where your table is, but what you bring to the table that matters.
