The role involves hands-on API proxy development, debugging, and CI/CD pipeline management within an Apigee environment. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including backend developers, DevOps, security, and product teams to deliver robust API solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Apigee professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys solving complex integration challenges.Location: New Zealand (Remote)Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain Apigee API proxies and shared flowsDebug and troubleshoot API issues across development, staging, and production environmentsBuild and optimize CI/CD pipelines for Apigee deploymentsImplement Apigee policies for security, traffic management, and mediationCollaborate with backend, DevOps, security, and product teams to align API strategies with business requirementsParticipate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practicesMonitor API performance and proactively identify optimization opportunitiesDocument technical designs, configurations, and operational proceduresQualificationsMinimum 3+ years of hands-on experience developing API proxies in Apigee (X or Edge)Strong proficiency in creating and configuring API proxies, products, shared flows, and developer appsSolid debugging and troubleshooting skills for complex API issuesExperience building and managing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Cloud Build, or similar)Deep understanding of Apigee policies (OAuth, Spike Arrest, Quota, JavaScript callouts, Service Callouts, etc.)Strong working knowledge of XML, JSON, JavaScript, and REST API design principlesProven ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, DevOps, and business teamsExcellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse stakeholdersSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environmentNice to HaveExperience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)Familiarity with Terraform or infrastructure-as-code tools for Apigee provisioningKnowledge of API security best practices and threat protectionExperience with monitoring and observability tools (Apigee Analytics, Cloud Monitoring, or similar)Background in microservices architecture and integration patternsWhat We OfferFlexible remote work arrangementOpportunity to work on enterprise-scale API projectsCollaborative team environment with exposure to modern API management practicesEngagement with cutting-edge developer experience toolingTo ApplyPlease submit your CV along with a brief summary of your Apigee project experience and availability.
