POSITION SUMMARY
Vertiv, a global leader in critical infrastructure solutions and services, is seeking a dynamic Finance Director to join our Americas Finance team as the Director of Finance overseeing 5 manufacturing sites in Mexico and 1 in Texas. This role oversees a financial scope encompassing $6B+ in sales, 10M+ production hours, and nearly $1B in conversion costs. Your role will include managing a team of plant controllers and finance professionals to provide strategic and operational leadership, value-added reporting and analysis, and effective internal controls over spending, workforce planning, and inventory management across all 6 sites.
You will be in frequent contact with Operations Leadership at each plant & regionally, and will be responsible for driving financial consistency, cross-border compliance, and operational excellence across the multi-site network. This role requires a self-starter with strong experience in manufacturing finance, multi-site operational leadership, cross-border financial management, and process improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Finance & Cost Management
• Lead initiatives to improve conversion costs (labor, overhead, and manufacturing efficiency) across all 6 plants.
• Develop and standardize cost metrics, KPIs, and benchmarking practices across all sites to enable meaningful cross-plant comparisons.
• Analyze cost structures across both Mexico and Texas operations to identify margin improvement opportunities and quantify cost impacts.
• Drive consistency in financial processes and reporting standards across all facilities. Workforce Planning & Control
• Lead financial oversight of hourly and salaried headcount capacity planning across all facilities.
• Monitor and report on production hours, labor utilization, and workforce productivity metrics.
• Partner with operations and HR to align staffing models with production demand and financial targets. Capital Planning & Implementation
• Oversee the financial evaluation, prioritization, and tracking of capital expendituresacross the 6-plant network.
• Partner with engineering and operations teams to ensure robust business cases and ROI analysis for capital projects.
• Monitor project execution against financial targets, timelines, and expected returns.
• Drive post-investment reviews to ensure accountability and continuous improvement. Inventory & Working Capital Management
• Lead strategies to optimize inventory levels, improve turns, and reduce excess and obsolete stock.
• Collaborate with supply chain and operations to balance service levels with working capital efficiency.
• Monitor and report on key working capital metrics, identifying opportunities for cash flow improvement.
• Implement controls and processes to enhance inventory accuracy and valuation, including oversight of physical inventories, cycle count adherence, and work order variance review. Financial Reporting & Compliance
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for all plants.
• Oversee plant-level close processes, variance analysis, and performance reportingwith consolidated multi-site views.
• Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with corporate policies, accounting standards, and cross-border regulatory requirements.
• Oversee foreign exchange exposure monitoring and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with Mexican and U.
S. tax, customs, and duty requirements as they relate to manufacturing operations.
• Provide clear, actionable financial insights to senior leadership. Business Partnership & Leadership
• Act as a trusted advisor to plant managers and senior operations leadership.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of plant controllers and finance professionals.
• Drive a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
• Support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
• Serve as the primary finance liaison for cross-border operational decisions. Success Profile
• Strong background in manufacturing finance, with multi-site oversight experience (preferably in Mexico).
• Deep understanding of cost accounting, standard costing, and operational KPIs.
• Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive change in complex environments.
• Experience managing cross-border financial operations (U.
S./Mexico preferred)
• Hands-on leader who can operate both strategically and tactically. Top of Form Bottom of Form QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, or Accounting; MBA preferred
• 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing finance including financial and operations leadership
• 3+ years of multi-site finance leadership experience
• Advanced knowledge of operational metrics, cost accounting, and inventory management
• Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills
• Bilingual English/Spanish required Preferred
Qualifications:
• Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience with U.
S.-Mexico manufacturing operations (maquiladora/IMMEX program knowledge a plus)
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performance teams
• Ability to pull together and summarize large amounts of data into concise explanations
• Comprehensive and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel ERP systems experience, preferably Oracle
