As an Associate, Tax LACAR, you will support the Tax team in delivering high-quality tax compliance and reporting activities across the LACAR region. You will gain exposure to Direct and Indirect Tax, Tax Accounting and Transfer Pricing, working closely with local and global Tax teams, Finance stakeholders and external advisors. This role offers the opportunity to build broad tax expertise within a global organization while contributing to accurate, timely and compliant tax processes. In this role, a typical day will include:
• Support the preparation and review of direct and indirect tax calculations, returns and related compliance activities for assigned LACAR countries.
• Prepare supporting documentation, reconciliations and working papers for monthly, quarterly and annual tax processes.
• Support tax accounting and reporting activities, including current and deferred tax calculations, tax provisions and related reconciliations.
• Assist with the preparation of information required for tax forecasts and reporting packages, following Alcon's accounting and tax guidelines.
• Support Transfer Pricing compliance activities, including gathering and analyzing intercompany information and coordinating documentation requirements with internal teams and external advisors.
• Assist with VAT, corporate income tax, withholding tax and other local tax compliance requirements.
• Prepare information and documentation required for tax audits, statutory reviews and requests from local tax authorities.
• Perform tax account reconciliations and help investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Work closely with Accounting, Statutory, Finance and other stakeholders to ensure tax information is accurate and complete.
• Maintain tax documentation, process controls and supporting evidence in accordance with internal policies and SOX requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve and standardize tax processes, escalating risks or inconsistencies to senior team members as appropriate. WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; Public Accounting preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in Tax, Accounting or a related Finance function, preferably within a multinational company, shared services environment or professional services firm.
• Practical knowledge of Mexican tax compliance, including corporate income tax and/or indirect taxes.
• Exposure to tax accounting, deferred tax or Transfer Pricing is preferred; hands-on experience is a plus.
• Understanding of accounting principles and ability to perform account reconciliations and financial data analysis.
• Experience working with an ERP such as SAP, Oracle or similar is preferred.
• Good Excel skills and ability to work with large amounts of financial information.
• Ability to communicate in English in a professional environment.
• Strong attention to detail, organization and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
