The Low Voltage Transformers Project Design Leader is responsible for leading the technical execution of the new generation of low-voltage dry-type transformers for the North American market. The position serves as the technical single point of contact for the complete project and guides the cross-functional team in delivering safe, reliable, compliant, manufacturable, and cost-effective product solutions.

What will you do?
  • Serve as the technical single point of contact for the complete project throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Lead and coordinate technical activities according to project priorities, requirements, milestones, and the shared team backlog.
  • Guide the team in shared technical decisions related to design architecture, material selection, electrical design, mechanical design, thermal design, design tradeoffs, verification strategy, and technical-risk acceptance.
  • Ensure technical decisions are evidence-based, documented, aligned with product requirements, and escalated when approval by the appropriate authority is required.
  • Translate customer, product, regulatory, manufacturing, and business needs into clear technical requirements and engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinate electrical design, mechanical design, modeling and simulation, verification and validation, laboratory testing, quality, manufacturing, industrialization, procurement, suppliers, product management, project management, codes and standards, customer support, and field services.
  • Define and estimate technical activities, dependencies, deliverables, resource needs, and technical debt.
  • Identify, assess, communicate, and drive mitigation of technical risks and unresolved design issues.
  • Ensure design feasibility, reliability, safety, efficiency, manufacturability, compliance, product performance, and Design-to-Cost objectives.
  • Coordinate design reviews, prototypes, verification and validation activities, compliance testing, and closure of technical issues.
  • Influence the engineering budget, project schedule, technical priorities, and resource plan in coordination with project stakeholders.
  • Provide functional technical leadership, guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentoring to project contributors without direct-report responsibility.
  • Communicate technical status, decisions, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required skills:
  • Project Management Methodologies - advanced level; leading technical activities based on backlog prioritization and sprint planning
  • Electromechanical Engineering - intermediate level; integrating mechanical, electrical, and electronic components into cohesive systems
  • Electrotechnology - intermediate level; applying electrical systems knowledge to product development and optimization
  • Design Optimization - intermediate level; balancing performance, cost, and manufacturability in system design
  • Requirements Analysis - intermediate level; translating stakeholder needs into actionable technical specifications
  • Risk Assessment - intermediate level; identifying and mitigating technical risks throughout the development cycle
What qualifications will make you successful?
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to influence technical direction and guide cross-functional teams
  • Strong decision-making skills in ambiguous situations with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication abilities to serve as technical liaison between design teams and stakeholders
  • Proven capability to mentor professionals and set work priorities independently
What's in it for me?
  • High-impact role where you shape technical strategy and drive innovation
  • Opportunity to lead complex, cross-disciplinary projects with real visibility
  • Collaborative environment that values your expertise and technical leadership
  • Professional growth through challenging work and continuous learning opportunities
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • Fluent English
  • At least eight years of relevant engineering experience.
  • At least three years of technical-lead or project-lead experience.
  • Experience leading complex electromechanical product-development or product-evolution activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical ownership, requirements analysis, cross-functional coordination, technical decision-making, risk management, verification and validation, design optimization, and Design-to-Cost.
  • Ability to lead through influence in a matrix organization without direct-report authority.
