About the Position:

We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to serve as the senior‑most technical authority and single point of accountability for all software engineering work executed out of our Mexico site. This is a technical leadership role, not a project management role.

Your Responsibilities will be:

Technical Leadership & Ownership

  • Serve as the responsible and accountable owner for all technical tasks, deliverables, and outcomes executed out of the site.
  • Personallyleadthe diagnosis and resolution of complex technical problems rather than delegating problem‑solving.
  • Set technical direction for the team and make sound engineering judgment calls in real time, escalating only when a decision genuinely requires leadership input.
  • Review andvalidatethe technical quality, accuracy, and completeness of work produced by the team before it is considered done.

Team Coordination & Guidance

  • Guide,monitor, and coordinate the daily work of software engineers, ensuring effort is focused on the right priorities.
  • Act as the first line of technical mentorship for the Mexico team — unblocking engineers, reviewing designs and code, and building technical capability within the site.
  • Maintain visibility into the status, risks, and blockers of all active work streams running through the Mexico site.
  • Participate in coordination calls with leadership and other stakeholders,representingthe team's technical status and perspective.
  • Accurately understand and interpret requests, requirements, and priorities, and translate them into clear, actionable direction for the team.
  • Proactively communicate progress, risks, and technical trade‑offs back to leadership so that decisions are made with full and current information.

Delivery Quality & Timeliness

  • Drive the team to complete assigned tasks on schedule, without sacrificing technical quality or accuracy.
  • Identifyand correct quality gaps or misunderstandingsearly, beforethey propagate into downstream defects or missed commitments.
  • Support continuous improvement of engineering practices at the site (code quality, review discipline, defect prevention).
What Qualifications you will bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience, includingsignificant experiencein embedded or automotive software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex technical problem‑solving from symptom to confirmed root cause, not just to a plausible hypothesis.
  • Proven experience informally or formally leading, mentoring, or technically directing other engineers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, sufficient to represent the Mexico team clearly and confidently in calls with US leadership and stakeholders. .
  • Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and accountability, with minimal day‑to‑day supervision from management.
Other skills that we would welcome:
  • Automotive instrument cluster (IPC) or similar embedded display/HMI software experience.
  • Experience with automotive SoCs/MCUs such as Renesas R-Car or Infineon Traveo, or comparable embedded silicon platforms.
  • Linux/Yoctoboard support package (BSP) development, including DRM/KMS display pipelines andsystemdservice architecture.
  • AUTOSAR, UDS/diagnostics, and functional safety (ASIL) development experience.
  • ASPICE process environments (Level 2 or 3).
  • CAN and related automotive middleware/communication stacks.
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and standard embedded toolchains (e.g., GHS MULTI or equivalent compiler/IDE toolchains).
