Job DescriptionThe Opportunity Ready to make a global impact through international trade and logistics? At Hitachi Energy, we're looking for an Import & Export Specialist to help drive the seamless movement of materials across borders while ensuring compliance with international trade regulations. In this role, you will be a key contributor to our supply chain and manufacturing operations, supporting the efficient import and export of goods under Mexico's IMMEX program. Working closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, government authorities, and internal teams, you'll help ensure materials arrive on time, documentation is accurate, and regulatory requirements are met. How You'll Make an Impact- Manage import and export operations in compliance with Mexican customs laws, U.S. trade regulations, and IMMEX program requirements.
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to ensure timely clearance of shipments.
- Prepare, review, and validate customs documentation, including pedimentos and tariff classifications (HTS codes).
- Monitor and maintain Annex 24 and Annex 30 inventory records to support regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with production, planning, and procurement teams to align material availability with import timelines.
- Support tariff preference programs such as USMCA and ensure required certificates and trade documentation are in place.
- Participate in internal and external audits and assist with customs and regulatory inspections.
- Stay informed on evolving trade regulations and implement process improvements to maintain compliance.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
- Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in import/export operations, preferably within a manufacturing or maquiladora environment.
- Strong knowledge of IMMEX, Annex 24, Annex 30, and USMCA regulations.
- Experience with Mexican customs processes and electronic systems such as VUCEM and SAT portals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SAP or other ERP systems, and trade compliance software.
- Bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish, with strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
