WS2: Job Title: Internal Logistics Engineer Temporary (2-12 months)

Location: Saltillo, Coahuila

Key Responsibilities

  • Launch & Ramp-Up Engineering: Support model introductions and line startups, ensuring robust logistics setup, operational readiness, and material availability during launch phases.
  • PFEP & Material Flow Design:
  • Lead the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) implementation, classifying parts by consumption rate, flow behavior, and supply mode (small/large volume).
  • Design internal material flows, pull signals (Kanban, Milk-run), replenishment frequencies, and optimize warehouse and line-side layouts.
  • Evaluate and integrate WMS functionality to align physical material movements with digital shopfloor execution.
  • Storage, Kitting & Packaging:
  • Define container types, pack quantities, and storage locations (racks, supermarkets, kitting areas).
  • Optimize line-side presentation and footprints to maximize efficiency, ergonomics, and line-meter usage.
  • SAP Master Data Governance:
  • Manage the SAP master-data loop by defining, testing, and updating key parameters: Min/Max levels, lot sizes, lead times, and safety stocks.
  • Validate parameters against real shopfloor evidence to ensure seamless synchronization between systems and plant execution.
  • Process Ownership & Handovers:
  • Define clear operational ownership and boundary handoffs between Planner, Warehouse Owner, and Line Owner.
  • Manage change approvals and sign-offs for SAP master data and layout modifications before formal handover.
  • CapEx, Headcount & Supplier Management:
  • Conduct comprehensive studies to calculate headcount requirements, optimize labor efficiency, and estimate CAPEX for logistics equipment.
  • Draft technical specifications, issue purchase requisitions, and manage interactions with equipment suppliers.
  • Standardization & Continuous Improvement:
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs, OPLs) and lead shopfloor training to embed standard work.
  • Track logistics KPIs, identify variances, and drive data-driven continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, WCM/WCL).

Technical & Professional Requirements

  • Education: Technical Diploma or Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Logistics, Management, or Mechanical).
  • Experience: 2–10 years of experience in Logistics Engineering, Plant Logistics, or Internal Logistics, ideally within high-volume manufacturing or automotive environments.
  • Core Methodologies: Strong expertise in Plan for Every Part (PFEP), Pull Systems, Lean Manufacturing, and World Class Manufacturing/Logistics (WCM/WCL).
  • Systems & Tools:
  • SAP MM/WM: Solid knowledge of logistics parameters (Min/Max, lot sizing, lead times, MRP controls) and master data integrity.
  • Design & Data: Proficiency in 2D layout design (AutoCAD) and advanced MS Excel (data modeling, complex formulas) plus PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with WMS software (e.g., SAP WM, Codep, Click) is a strong plus.
  • Soft Skills: Problem-solving mindset, high autonomy, analytical rigor, and strong cross-functional communication skills across planning, warehouse, and production teams.

Language Requirements

  • English: Minimum B2/C1 level (fluent written and spoken).
  • Spanish: Working proficiency/fluent (essential for local plant operations in Mexico).
