About the Role

Our client, WhatJobs Direct, is seeking an experienced Research Scientist in Pharmacology and Drug Discovery to join their innovative R&D team. This hybrid role allows for a blend of remote work and on-site collaboration at our facilities in Cancún, Quintana Roo. You will play a critical role in identifying and validating novel drug targets, designing innovative therapeutic strategies, and advancing drug candidates through the preclinical development pipeline. This position requires a deep understanding of pharmacology, molecular biology, and drug development processes. We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong scientific background and a proven ability to manage complex research projects. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to cutting-edge research aimed at addressing unmet medical needs. Key Responsibilities

Design and execute in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies to evaluate drug efficacy and safety.
Identify and validate novel drug targets for various therapeutic areas.
Develop and optimize assays for screening compound libraries and assessing compound activity.
Characterize the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of drug candidates.
Collaborate with medicinal chemists to optimize lead compounds.
Analyze and interpret experimental data, and present findings to the research team.
Contribute to the preparation of research reports, regulatory documents, and scientific publications.
Stay current with the latest advancements in pharmacology, drug discovery, and relevant therapeutic areas.
Manage research projects, timelines, and resources effectively.
Mentor junior scientists and contribute to a positive team environment.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related life science field.
Minimum of 5 years of research experience in drug discovery within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
Proven experience in designing and conducting pharmacology studies (in vitro and/or in vivo).
Strong understanding of drug discovery processes, from target identification to preclinical development.
Hands-on experience with various biological assays and techniques.
Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation using relevant software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Experience working in a hybrid or flexible work environment is preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
