Project Summary:

For the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Journalists (PDP) is a program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). PDP aims to contribute to improving the institutional and operational capacity of governmental and non-governmental actors involved in the protection of human rights defenders and journalists. Through this program, it is intended to support the generation of a safer civic space for the exercise of freedom of expression and the defense of rights. PDP will work through August 2026 and engages with counterparts and allies at the federal and state levels.

Position Summary:

The Therapeutic Writing Consultant Will conduct therapeutic writing workshops for human rights defenders and journalists, focused on strengthening mental health self-care capacities within this population, as well as providing accompaniment by other entities.

Responsibilities:

Design a therapeutic writing workshop tailored to the mental health needs of journalists and human rights defenders, incorporating an intercultural and gender perspective that addresses the various challenges these individuals face in their work. Conduct the workshop for groups of human rights defenders and journalists, either virtually or in-person. Prepare reports that include key observations and descriptions of the workshop's progress.

Resumen del Proyecto:

Por la Protección de Personas Defensoras y Periodistas (PDP) es un programa de la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional (USAID). PDP tiene el objetivo de contribuir a mejorar la capacidad institucional y operativa de actores gubernamentales y no gubernamentales involucrados en la protección de las personas defensoras de derechos humanos y periodistas. A través de este programa, se pretende apoyar en la generación de un espacio cívico más seguro para el ejercicio de la libertad de expresión y la defensa de derechos. PDP trabajará hasta agosto de 2026 y realiza actividades con contrapartes y aliados a nivel federal y estatal.

Resumen del Cargo:

PDP requiere a una persona consultora que lleve a cabo talleres de escritura terapéutica para personas defensoras de derechos humanos y periodistas, enfocados en fortalecer las capacidades de autocuidado de la salud mental en esta población, así como el acompañamiento por parte de otras instancias.

Responsabilidades:

Diseñar un taller de escritura terapéutica adecuado a las necesidades de las personas periodistas y defensoras de derechos humanos en temas de salud mental, con una perspectiva intercultural y de género que aborde los distintos retos que estas personas enfrentan en su labor. Ofrecer el taller a grupos de personas defensoras de derechos humanos y periodistas de forma virtual o presencial. Elaborar reportes donde se incluyan las principales observaciones y descripciones del desarrollo del taller.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in psychology required. Minimum two years of experience working directly in the management of therapeutic writing workshops and spaces required. Clinical specialization and experience in therapeutic writing topics. Experience in addressing gender perspective and human rights issues. Fluency in Spanish required.

Requisitos:

Licenciatura en Psicología requerida. Con especialidad clínica y experiencia en temas de escritura terapéutica. Por lo menos dos años de experiencia trabajando directamente en la gestión de talleres y espacios de escritura terapéutica requerida. Sensibilidad para tratar temas de perspectiva de género y derechos humanos. Fluidez en español requerida.
