Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Description of Role:
Assists Finance Entity Manager with the overall Plant’s Tax Compliance, internal local and Corporate tax reporting, statutory and Government audits, cost reduction opportunities. Ensures plant compliance with local regulations, GAAP accounting principles and Corning policies and procedures.
Responsabilities
Responsible for Plant’s monthly and annual State and Federal Tax calculation and payments, including the Value Added Tax. Assist the Finance Entity Manager with the monthly tax closing, analysis of actual results, internal reporting and short-term and long-term Tax forecasting. Responsible for managing the period closing process; including preparation and posting of vouchers, ensuring accuracy of the general ledger, entity compliance with local regulations, GAAP accounting principles and Corning policies and procedures, on a timely basis. Responsible for preparation of quarterly SEC reporting package and account reconciliations Assists the Finance Entity manager in the development and maintenance of Tax planning budgeting systems, preparation of financial and management reports, procedures. Performs complex, undefined ad hoc financial Tax analyses and assigned requests from senior management leveraging a deep understanding of Tax responsibilities within an assigned business unit. Drives Tax process improvement. Provides financial analysis related to Tax projects, cost reduction, and other initiatives as required Executes and supports in statutory reporting & Sarbanes Oxley compliance, internal and external controls Responsible for the Mexican Statutory Overview Import/Export Mexican regulatory compliance Keep up-to-date with tax changes and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, participating in professional organizations, keeping up with professional networks and reading professional publications.
Qualifications:
Skills/Experience:
Strong Mexican tax compliance experience Strong technical skills; proficiency in Excel / PowerPoint Experience with Financial ERP and reporting systems (PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle etc.) Sarbanes-Oxley knowledge and documentation Ability to analyze and interpret data and link to business implications Bilingual Spanish - English
