Job Description
Nidec Aerospace is seeking a qualified Quality Engineer that will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of aerospace electrical motors throughout their lifecycle, with a strong focus on the product launch phase. This role involves developing and implementing quality control systems, conducting audits and inspections, and collaborating with the Design engineering team to ensure seamless integration of new products into manufacturing processes.
The individual is responsible for:
Quality Control and Assurance:

Develop and implement quality control processes and procedures to ensure all products meet aerospace industry standards and customer specifications.

Conduct inspections and audits of manufacturing processes, materials, and final products to identify and resolve quality issues.
Product Launch Support:
-
Coordinate with the New Program Development team to ensure successful product launches by integrating quality requirements into the development and manufacturing processes.

Oversee the initial production runs of new products, ensuring that they meet quality standards and identifying any issues that may arise during the launch phase.

Participate in design reviews and pre-production planning to address potential quality concerns before full-scale production begins.
Process Improvement:

Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends, root causes of defects, and areas for process improvement.

Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other quality management tools.
Compliance and Documentation:

Ensure compliance with aerospace standards and regulations, including AS9100, FAA requirements, and other relevant industry standards.

Maintain and update quality documentation, including quality plans, procedures, work instructions, and inspection records.
Problem-Solving and Root Cause Analysis:

Investigate and resolve quality issues, including non-conformances and customer complaints, through root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.

Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to implement effective solutions and prevent recurrence of issues.
Supplier Quality Management:

Evaluate and audit suppliers to ensure they meet quality requirements and standards.

Work with suppliers to address quality concerns and improve the quality of incoming materials and components.
Training and Support:

Provide training and support to production and quality teams on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.

Act as a quality resource for cross-functional teams, offering guidance and expertise on quality-related matters.
Customer Interaction:

Support customer quality audits and reviews, providing necessary documentation and addressing any quality-related inquiries or concerns.

Assist in the development and implementation of customer-specific quality requirements and standards.
Technical Attributes and Experience

Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies such as statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis (RCA), and failure mode effects analysis (PFMEA).

Familiarity with inspection tools and techniques, including measurement systems and equipment.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers.

Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Proactive and able to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.

Strong problem-solving abilities and a collaborative approach to addressing quality challenges.
Minimum Requirements (proficiency levels aligned to job level)
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality engineering or quality assurance, preferably in aerospace or a related high-tech industry.

Experience with electrical motor manufacturing processes and quality control techniques.
