Regulatory Compliance Retail Senior Manager
Role purpose:
As Risk Stewards, Regulatory Compliance (RC) provide advice, guidance, opinions, direction, and training related to the regulatory landscape to the First Line of Defense/Business. RC ensures the business complies with the letter and spirit of relevant regulations, thereby delivering fair outcomes for customers while embedding a robust risk management culture in HSBC’s business processes. This key risk management role has a broad remit and responsibilities, which include but are not limited to; managing and serving as local point of escalation for Wealth & Personal Banking (WPB) RC personnel located in Mexico City, analyzing exception reports, performing compliance owned controls, tracking issue remediations, and monitoring control effectiveness.
The primary function of the role is to serve as the manager and local point of escalation for the WPB RC personnel located in Mexico City. The role is to collaborate with the US Regulatory Compliance function and support the overall compliance framework for HSBC’s WPB businesses. The role will act as a manager for the team extension of the US Compliance team.
The role requires strong business understanding, project management expertise, control focus, and high-quality engagement across multiple US teams as well as demonstrated people management experience.
Main activities:
Serve as manager and local point of escalation for the WPB RC personnel located in Mexico City. Responsible for work allocation amongst the team, coaching and training of new hires, procedure creation and ongoing reviews, and receipt of feedback from the US team for staff development and performance. Responsible for delivery of services to the US with good quality and within expected timelines. Act and coordinate between RC personnel in Mexico City and the team in the United States. Oversee daily, monthly, and ad-hoc controls to escalation potential exceptions to US compliance management. Support initiatives to comply with US regulations. Ensure delivery of processes operate in a well-defined control environment. Ensure continuous review of processes with the objective of improving delivery timeframes, control environment and to identify areas of improvement for RC Operations. Contribute to strategic planning & decisions in RC management meetings. Understand stakeholder needs and manage expectations. Independent accountability for driving and achieving results. Solid practical understanding of retail banking businesses. Strong organization, time management and prioritization demand abilities. Excellent communication skills, presentation skills and interpersonal skills, combined with strong integrity to challenge, ask the right questions, be persistent, give and receive feedback positively, collaborate effectively within own team, outside team and with business leads. Fully proficient English language skills. Expertise working on systems and applications, with proficiency in MS Excel/Access/Word/PowerPoint.
