Sr Acquisition Investment & Financial Advisory (AIFA Sr)
Purpose of the Position:
Lead and be responsible for analyzing investment proposals for internal approvals, the structuring, negotiation and closing of M&A and project finance transaction, and for the management and coaching of junior members of the team As part of its mission, the Senior Financial Advisor will have responsibility for the valuation and risk analysis of new projects (including review of financial models) and for the preparation of financing plans, selection of funding sources / banks (in coordination with team leadership), structuring and execution of project financings and M&A transactions.
Responsabilities and Job Functions:
• Manage junior financial advisors and provide coaching to part of the team in Project Financing and financing documentation, M&A, and investment valuation and structuring.
• Monitor and assess liquidity and provide constructive advice on terms and general trends of regional and international project finance debt markets and Debt Capital Markets.
• Assist team leadership in the management of relationship with leading international commercial banks, regional and local commercial banks, relevant export credit and multilateral agencies and other funding institutions.
• Monitor and assess competitors’ approaches to financing / funding projects and potential mobilization of new financing sources.
• Be responsible for the risk assessment, valuation, financing plan structuring, negotiation and closing activities for greenfield, brownfield and M&A transactions in coordination with Business Development team.
• Advise on risk allocation, bankability issues, optimization & tax structuring.
• Responsible for reviewing and approving financing, accounting and tax related inputs in financial models (where required with the support of relevant expertise centres and/or external consultants)
• Contributes to the setting of internal procedures for the AIFA Latam team and responsible for adherence with Global AIFA procedures.
Ocupational Profile:
• Finance / Economics based degree or a professional qualification such as CFA, CIMA, ACA, ACCA (or equivalent)
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in Project Financing and Financial Advisory.
• Demonstrated experience in leading, negotiating and closing large-scale international / regional project finance transactions in the energy sector.
• Experience in the Latam region.
• Experience in planning and managing complex financial closing processes.
• Experience in managing people.
• Specific Knowledge / skills
• Strong and proven analytical skills, including proficient financial modelling.
• Strong leadership qualities, people management skills and ability to motivate team members.
• Commercial acumen with good understanding of accounting topics and tax structures.
• Sound understanding of the power and gas sectors in the Latam region.
• Proven understanding of contractual structure and risk allocation of typical contracted-output and merchant IPP projects.
• Planning ability and capacity to deliver on plans.
• Presence and interpersonal credibility to represent the company with key financial stakeholders, banks, financial institutions, government agencies / departments and partners.
• Behavioral capabilities: problem solving, strong personality and leadership.
• Languages: Spanish and English required. French valuable.
