Job Description

Location: Ciudad de México - México

You will be part of the Finance team and will support the area.

Here is how this role will be critical to our business:

  • Manage Mexican tax affairs and tax compliance obligations in a rapidly changing tax regulatory and business environment and ensure compliance with applicable tax policies and procedures.
  • Ensure close collaboration and engagement with local country Business and Finance organization as well as regional and global Group Tax function including Transfer Pricing and Tax Reporting operations, maintaining a highly compliant culture through continuous improvement and engagement with internal & external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and manage the profit level of Mexican Syngenta entities in cooperation with the global Transfer Pricing team.
  • Support in positioning the global tax strategy and risk management framework in Mexico.
  • Support Head of Tax in special corporate projects like M&A, divestments, capital injections, and dividend distribution.
  • Represent Group Tax in leadership meetings, risk committees, and other senior management forums.
  • Monitor external regulatory and internal business developments and initiatives to ensure tax compliance and mitigate tax risks for the Group.
  • Support tax audits/litigations and actively contribute to building/maintenance of strong and positive relationships with local tax authorities and external advisors.
  • Build, lead, and develop a fit-for-purpose Mexican tax team, thriving to provide value and advice to the business while keeping a high level of regulatory tax compliance.

It is indispensable for this position:

  • Expert knowledge in Mexican (must) and international (plus) tax matters, gained in one of the Big4s, ideally combined with in-house experience in a multinational company.
  • Strong finance, statutory accounting, and tax reporting knowledge; and understanding of underlying operational processes, systems, and data requirements.
  • Experience in the Agri business sector would be a differentiator.
  • Fluent Spanish and English is a must; knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
  • Proven team player and people leader with the motivation and skill to drive and improve our Tax function.
  • Leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable to deal with stakeholders at different levels in the organization.
  • Strong and effective communication in relation to key stakeholders, including senior managers at local, regional, and global levels.
  • Building trusted relationships in a complex matrix organization.
  • Can-do mindset to identify and solve problems.
