Position SummaryMaintain, troubleshoot and repair ship's Electrical and Electronic equipment.- Duties & Responsibilities- Ensuring the safe, efficient maintenance of the vessels electrical and electronic systems including, but not restricted to alternators/generators, motors, wiring, switchboards, lighting systems, electronic equipment, communication and navigation equipment.- Ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of all flame proof and intrinsically safe equipment and therefore be fully conversant with the relevant codes of practice and maintenance techniques associated with the equipment installed.- Familiarizing himself with the ships electrical drawings, manuals and test instruments and keep in good order and, update drawings and manuals as necessary.- Following the requirements of the vessel planned maintenance system he must undertake the responsibility for the repair and maintenance of any items as directed.- Ensuring the safe and effective retrofit of electrical equipment and that any electrical repair work is carried out with due consideration to safety and cost effectiveness.- Maintaining logs of equipment as directed by the Chief Engineer.- Carrying out routine insulation tests at intervals not less than those specified in the planned maintenance system, ensuring that insulation values are maintained according to recognized standards. Persistent or reoccurring low values must be reported to the Chief Engineer.- Assisting as directed, with the preparation of spare gear and repair lists and ensure the adequate supply of Electrical consumables items are retained on board at all times.- Qualifications- Minimum Experience of one (1) year in OSV/PSV/MPSV experience.- Holder of a valid USA B1/OCS or B1/B2 USA VISA.- Holder of a valid COC ETO STCW III/6- Holder of a valid DPO Maintenance Certificate (Kongsberg).- Holder of valid STCW Certification.Availability Imminent for up to 4 months.
