**About the Role**:**Grade Level (for internal use)**: 10**The Role**: Principal Research Analyst, Datacenters and Energy**The Team**: Our team has been at the forefront of the datacenter market for over a decade, delivering both qualitative and quantitative analyses. We provide insights into the companies within the industry, their clients, and the trends affecting the industry across different cities. Your work will support the North American Power and Renewables team but collaborate across S&P Global divisions to develop a new research service.**The Impact**: As a Research Analyst, your role will be pivotal in serving a diverse range of clients, including datacenter operators, investors, energy companies, and enterprises. Our clients depend on us for comprehensive coverage of datacenter-specific trends in North America, as well as broader topics like energy management, sustainability, and AI's impact on operations. Your work will focus on the implications and opportunities of data centers to North American power and renewables markets and will guide clients in making informed strategic decisions in the dynamic intersection of AI, datacenter growth, and energy needs.**What’s in it for you**:Collaborate across S&P Global divisions to develop a new research service at the intersection of AI, datacenter growth, and energy sustainabilityBuild a wholistic understanding of the datacenter and energy sector while specializing in North American electricity markets.Support engagements with a wide range of professionals, including stakeholders in industry and government, to expand your network.Over time, gain autonomy to manage your research topics and priorities with managerial support.Travel across North America for client engagements and events**Responsibilities**:Conduct industry research on the datacenter market and its trends, working both independently and in collaboration within a geographically dispersed, global team.Supporting the development and delivery of detailed market reports on the North American datacenter, infrastructure, and energy markets with a focus on electricity markets.Writing is essential to this role and will involve supporting the publication of short insights and longer strategic reports on broader industry trendsCollaborate across divisions to integrate diverse insights into cohesive analyses.Perform quantitative analysis to support strategic insights.Engage directly with clients, providing insights and solutions.Utilize your expertise in datacenter and energy industries to drive research initiatives.Share thought leadership through written reports, webinars and industry conferences.Conduct research for client consulting engagements and deliver presentations and reports**Qualifications**:Strong communication skills in English.Experience in the datacenter or energy industries, especially electricity, is highly preferred.Analytical thinker.Interest and ability to gather and interrogate data from new and existing sources.Ability to dive into details and synthesize findings with client facing materialsInstinct for curiosity and collaborationExcellent written and presentation skills for effective communication.Experience with client-facing workAbility and desire to eventually independently drive research initiativesExperience in thought leadership through webinars and conferences.Willingness to travel for client engagements and events.**Compensation/Benefits Information**: Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
