Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.**This role in summary**:**The Senior Engineer position is responsible for supporting execution of project work involving the identification and implementation of technological solutions related to commercial clothes washers and dryers. The ability to plan and execute design projects, incorporate Design Quality deliverables into project work (FMEA, tolerance analysis, etc.), and contribute to the selection of design approaches is essential to this career. In addition, the Engineer will work with the Model Shop to create prototype parts, collaborate with suppliers and tool makers to optimize designs for fabrication, coordinate work within a cross-functional project team, and utilize a team of product designers to model and release the designs. This position can be filled at a higher or lower level depending on individual qualifications.****Your responsibilities will include**:- ** Contribute as an engineer to the development of washing machine and clothes dryer mechanical systems and features.**- ** Elicit project and design requirements to establish success criteria against which design work can be judged. Create design specifications that integrate the requirements analysis, and work against that specification to deliver project needs.**- ** Develop project plans, test plans, schedules, and road maps necessary for achieving project deliverables.**- ** Demonstrate creativity by identifying innovative engineering solutions to design problems.**- ** Work with product CAD designers to develop and produce models that will be used for prototyping and simulation.**- ** Develop designs within a Design Quality framework that includes statistical tolerancing, DFMEA, technical design reviews, Design Verification Plans, design for assembly, and early supplier involvement.**- ** Work cross functionally with various internal engineering and simulation groups, procurement, **manufacturing, external suppliers, and the Product Business Team to collaborate on project work****Minimum requirements**:**Computer Experience -**- ** Microsoft office suite, Google Applications, Basic Pro/E (Creo).****Education & Experience Requirements -**- ** Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering.**- ** 5+ years of professional industry experience with mechanical component/system design engineering.****Preferred skills and experiences**:- ** Design Engineer work experience in designing the following component types: injection, thermal formed and extruded plastic parts; sheet metal stampings; electrical components; fastener selection.**- ** Previous experience with creation of test plans, schedules, FMEAs, engineering specifications.**- ** Knowledge of manufacturing processes and variation.**- ** Demonstrated ability in new product development.**- ** Excellent written and verbal communications skills.**- ** Outstanding people skills, with the specific ability to interact with team members.**- ** Experience in use of Six Sigma tools.**- ** Ability to focus and complete tasks based on set time lines.
