Assistant Vice President

Role Purpose Special Credit Unit (SCU) at North America operates within the ‘Professional Services’ operating model and deals with high‑risk credits (secured), extended to small businesses, middle market, large corporates as well as global banking customers in the US. The SCU officers manage or co‑manage a portfolio of criticized/classified or exited loan relationships including Commercial Real Estate, derivative products, and settlement limits alongside On‑shore Senior SCU Managers catering primarily to the Mid‑Market, Large Corporate, Commercial Real Estate, Asset Based Lending and Global Banking segments. The objective is to reduce criticized, classified and/or non‑performing assets to maximize the timely recovery of assets through collection and/or restructuring, including rehabilitation and return to the line. Main Activities Develop data processes and prepare Special Credit Unit department such as portfolio statistics, trends, and migration. Produce reports on regulatory matters such as IFRS 9. Assist in internal/external audit engagements. Support in the ongoing administration and operation of SOX and non‑SOX controls. Assist as required in projects that may include training, systems change, process and control change, etc. and establish risk policies aligned with Group Risk and Finance principles. Coordinate with SCU Relationship Managers to assist Senior Management with ensuring data accuracy in IFRS 9, closely monitor high‑risk credits and recommend an appropriate workout strategy in collaboration with onshore senior Relationship Managers or independently (for full responsibility from GSC) to bring them to the best resolution for the bank. Undertake thorough credit analysis, risk assessment, day‑to‑day management, loss estimation, collateral coverage estimation on an assigned portfolio of bilateral and syndicated relationships. Perform impairment analysis in compliance with IFRS 9 guidelines for exposures with default risk ratings and participate in lender calls to evaluate strategies at the Bank Group level and execute workout plans in accordance. Requirements Graduate degree in accounting, business, finance, economics or a related field, or equivalent. Qualifications in Finance/CA/ICWA/CS/CAIIB preferred. 5+ years of post‑qualification experience in handling small business or commercial credits and dealing with customers and government agencies or equivalent (relevant loan workouts and/or commercial lending and/or commercial recovery experience). In‑depth understanding of accounting, financial analysis, credit products (term loans, OD/CC, LC/BG, bill discounting, factoring, forex loans). Good knowledge of International Trade Financing, treasury/derivative products preferred. Ability to analyze loan documentation including syndicated credit agreements, analyze complex corporate financial statements as well as personal net worth statements. Excellent written and verbal English skills. Developed data and analytical skills. Must demonstrate experience developing MI solutions through data analysis tools such as Python, R or SAS.
