At FLS, we empower the future of Mining to operate more sustainably and if you want to contribute to this important work, let’s talkJob ScopeWe are looking for an experienced and driven Head of Complex Spare Parts & Modernization - Proposals & Order Execution - AMER in SBL to lead the end-to-end lifecycle of our complex modernization and spare parts. This cross-functional leadership role spans both the proposal and execution phases, ensuring technical and commercial excellence from quote to project completion.You will manage a team of Proposal Engineers and Project Managers, coordinate closely with Sales, GSLM, Sourcing, and Execution functions, and act as a key escalation point for critical customer engagements. Your focus will be on operational excellence, standardization, and customer satisfaction across all phases of the complex Spare parts & U&R project lifecycle.The role is established under the Global Proposal & Order Desk team in SBL.Leadership & Strategy- Lead and develop a high-performing team of Proposal Engineers and Project Managers across multiple locations.- Define and execute process standards, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives across proposal and execution workflows.- Serve as the key escalation and coordination point for critical project and proposal issues.- Oversee the development of accurate, cost-effective, and timely technical-commercial proposals for spare parts and modernization (U&R) projects.- Ensure alignment with customer RFQs, site requirements, internal cost targets, and margin expectations.- Standardize templates, pricing formats, and scope documentation for global consistency.- Track proposal KPIs (e.g., turnaround time, hit rate, pricing accuracy) and drive performance improvement.Proposal Management- Lead project delivery from order receipt through to closure, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and at the expected quality level.- Act as a single point of contact for customer escalations, technical/commercial clarifications, and risk mitigation actions.- Drive cross-functional coordination with Engineering, Procurement, Planning, and Field Services to ensure execution excellence.- Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and administrative protocols on customer sites.- Monitor project financials, including manhour tracking and contribution margin (CM) performance.- Proposal ManagementWhat you bring- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.- 10+ years of combined experience in proposal development and project execution, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.- Proven success managing complex modernization, upgrade, or industrial spare parts projects.- Strong commercial and technical acumen with cross-functional coordination skills.- Effective communicator with excellent stakeholder management experience.- Results-oriented mindset with a passion for operational improvement and customer focus.FLSmidth is the leading supplier of engineering, equipment and service solutions to customers in the mining and cement industries - for more information please visit
