Job DetailsDescriptionThe **Project Development Senior Associate** (fka PM1) is responsible for the development of utility-scale renewable energy generation projects from the project identification stage through financial closing and start of construction for the Development of projects in Mexico. This is a fast-paced and multi-faceted role facing multiple internal and external stakeholders and providers immediate exposure to commercial matters. **This position is based from EDPRNA's Mexico City office.****Main accountabilities**:- Manage the identification of prospective utility-scale renewable energy projects with suitable wind/solar resource, electric transmission access, and site characteristics- Responsible for local, state, federal, and regional permitting of utility-scale renewable energy projects- Support the preparation of proposals that are submitted to utilities and other power purchasers- Obtain land surface rights to design, permit, construct, operate, and maintain renewable energy projects- Establish and manage relationships with stakeholders, including elected officials, regulators, utilities, RTOs, and community leaders, to support project development- Participate in policy outreach efforts to government officials regarding renewable energy industry issues- Monitor Generation Interconnection studies performed by transmission providers and third parties- Manage the environmental study and permitting process- Support the financial analysis and modeling of the project- Manage project level expenditures and invoice processing- Develop project budgets- Participate in interconnection agreement negotiations- Work with internal resources, such as the Legal, Environmental, Engineering, Construction, Finance, Investment Analysis, and Energy Assessment teams- Provide reports to management by producing regular and frequent pipeline updates, project status updates, and other reporting documents- Research energy market and competition on an ongoing basis- Communicate information continuously and effectively to cross-functional teams- Negotiate and establish local agreements that address tax abatement, Road Use, and Decommissioning- Additional duties as required**Direct reports**:None - this is an individual contributor role**Travel**: up to 65%; must have a valid driver's license**Minimum qualifications**:- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred- 5+ years of progressively responsible project management experience in the energy industry- Must have a valid driver's license- Bilingual - must be fluent in both English & Spanish languages- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software; some knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software preferred- Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise**Behavioral requirements**:- Strong organizational and multitasking skills- Strong written and verbal communication skills- High attention to detail- Excellent Interpersonal and teamwork skills- Ability to work productively with limited supervision- Time-management skills- Strong interest in environmental issues and renewable energy- Ability and willingness to travel and work overtime as needed- Familiarity with wind/solar power project development preferred**Physical demands & working conditions**:- **Sitting/Standing/Flexibility**:Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment- **Speech/Reading**:Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form- **Lifting**:Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds- **Vision/Hearing**:Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form- **Safety**: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary**Qualifications**:Education**Required**- Bachelors or better.**Preferred**- Masters or better.Experience**Required****5 years**: 5 years of progressively responsible project management experience in the energy industry
