They operate in 50 states, products are used in 21,000+ schools by 7,000,000 students.- Project overview: The company is technology-driven with a huge number of software engineers involved in product development. They have a very solid approach to technology and employ best practices and processes, with a focus on cutting-edge frameworks, languages and tools.- They use AWS technologies such as RDS, Lambdas, DynamoDB, etc. on Linux-based platforms.- Technology stack: Main languages: Python,- Secondary languages: JavaScript/NodeJS, bash/shell- Frameworks: FastAPI, Pyramid, Serverless, ExpressJS- Testing: nose, pytest, jasmine, wdio, selenium, frisby- Compute (AWS): EC2, ECS/Fargate/Docker, Lambda- AWS: CodePipeline, CodeBuild, S3, SQS, RDS, ElasticCache, EventBridge, CloudWatch, SSM, API Gateway, IAM, CloudFormation, X-Ray, ECR- DBs: PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Sqlite, Redis- Misc: Terraform, Chef, NGINX, Git, Jira, Github, Artifactory, OpenAPI, DataDog, JWT/JWKS, OAuth, Pydantic, Marshmallow, CI/CD, REST, monitors/alerts, scaling, Gulp, PM2- Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend systems and APIs using Python- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features- Lead the development of scalable and secure architectures leveraging AWS services- Write and maintain automated tests using tools like pytest and nose- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth deployments- Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotating basis for a two-week period, responding to and resolving incidents affecting client services- Monitor and maintain client services to ensure uptime and performance- Requirements: Proven experience as a Senior Python Engineer or similar role- Strong proficiency in Python, with experience in frameworks such as FastAPI or Pyramid- Solid understanding of AWS services and cloud architecture- Hands-on experience with: Docker, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing tools like pytest and nose- Familiarity with databases like PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Terraform and CloudFormation- Knowledge of authentication protocols, including OAuth and JWT- Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset- Nice to have: Exposure to JavaScript frameworks like ExpressJS- Familiarity with additional testing tools, such as jasmine or selenium- Experience with monitoring tools like DataDog- Familiarity with Chef, NGINX, and scaling strategies
