Lead Parts Engineer

**Job Description Summary**: The Lead Parts Engineer is an instrumental member of the Parts Engineering team responsible for the technical support of Engineered and Transactional flowpart quotes and orders. The Parts Engineering team is a key element of the Steam Power Parts business, consisting of a cross functional team of commercial, fulfilment, engineering, materials management and sourcing colleagues that deliver critical parts to support GE Customers.**Roles and Responsibilities**The primary responsibility of the Lead Parts Engineer is to provide engineering and/or CMPD support for urgent engineered flowpart quotes and orders. This includes, but is not limited to some or all of the following activities:- Specify the design requirements for Steam Turbine Engineered flowparts, focused initially on urgent bucket flowparts but may also include other components such as packing rings, diaphragms, valves, bearings and other components. This includes:- Reviewing the order to assure adequate information is available to accurately fulfil the order.- Research turbine records to determine what hardware is presently installed in the unit.- Determining what features of the existing hardware need to be updated, and what analysis is necessary to properly update the existing design.- Outline what quantities of parts (extras, large and small tapered buckets, etc.) are needed for different styles of bucket kits.- As the focus of this role is on emergent bucket part support, the Lead Parts Engineer must be able to manage a high workload of projects, often required on an urgent or expedited basis.- Respond to technical questions submitted via Engineering Requests in PowerNow from field and commercial personnel.- Ensure that design configuration is properly updated and maintained in SBOM.Additional responsibilities may include some or all of the following activities:- Communicate with customers and other engineering groups to convert quote and order requests into deliverable applicable part(s) by researching drawings, technical manuals, databases, parts catalogues and other available sources for accurate product identification; clarify parts configuration and determines applicable part number(s).- Identify customer requested parts and accurately complete engineering part definition attributes in a timely manner.- Provide technical support to internal and external customers in support of orders and quotes fulfillment and sales initiatives.- Contact qualified vendors in order to identify and/or validate vendor parts, price and availability.- Further tasks not involved in this Job Description that the immediate leader/manager assigns verbally or in writing.**Required Qualifications**- Technical University or College Degree - in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy Engineering or Mechatronics- Ability to read, interpret and comprehend technical documentation such as technical drawings, Bill of Materials, material specifications, electrical schematic diagrams, system block diagrams- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)- Must be fluent in Writing/Speaking/Reading in English- Strong oral, written and telephonic communications skills in English- Ability to communicate and integrate across functions within the business- Utilizes initiative and independent judgment in the performance of daily work tasks- Ability to drive process improvements and solve complex problems- Good interpersonal, strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills- Pro-active approach to problem solving- Detail oriented, organized, conscientious team player with strong sense of ownership- Capable of designing, selling, and implementing process improvements- Ability to quickly and effectively learn business operating systems**Desired Characteristics**- 3+ years of experience in energy industry- Familiarity with power plant equipment, operations, maintenance- Certified Black Belt/Green Belt (GE employees only)- Prior experience in drafting, design engineering, or field engineering is preferred- Prior experience with COPICS/COSDOM, Parts ERP and PLM is preferred- Experience with PGPLM, SBOM, PMX and RPDM- Ability to read drawings and have familiarity with BOM structures- Six Sigma training is preferred- Strong problem solving skills**Additional Information**:**Relocation Assistance Provided**:NoLI-Remote - This is a remote position
