Deputy Tax Director

-Job description**Role purpose**Support to Tax function oriented to 4 main activities: Tax Compliance & Reporting, Governance & Risk Management, Process Optimization & Innovation and Business Advisory & Strategic Support.**Main activities**- 1. Tax Compliance and Reporting_- Lead the agile tax compliance process for all legal entities in Mexico, ensuring accuracy and timely fulfillment of tax obligations (ISR, VAT, SIPRED, ISSIF, IMMEX, informative returns).- Responsible for the accurate preparation and forecasting of current and deferred taxes for IFRS reporting, capital planning, stress testing, and profit sharing.- Ensure reconciliation and substantiation of tax accounts and respond to regulator tax requirements.- Oversee tax reporting for external audits, including Current and Deferred Taxes, and Effective Tax Rate (ETR).- 2. Governance and Risk Management_- Design, establish, and maintain a strong governance framework and SOX-compliant controls across all tax processes, ensuring interdepartmental coordination.- Identify Uncertain Tax Positions (UTPs) and potential exposures, aligning tax risk appetite with business strategies.- Implement proactive measures to mitigate tax risks and avoid operational losses.- 3. Process Optimization and Innovation_- Drive efficiency and automation in tax compliance processes by developing tactical and strategic solutions.- Encourage innovation and creative thinking to resolve complex tax matters effectively.- Promote continuous improvement and standardization of tax-related workflows.- 4. Business Advisory and Strategic Support_- Provide expert tax advisory on daily operations across functions.- Support the Head of Tax on strategic projects such as Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), corporate restructuring, and entity rationalization.Requirements**Education**- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Economics (required)- Master’s Degree in Taxes, Finance, or related field (preferred)**Experience**- 10+ years of experience in Tax Compliance and Reporting, ideally in multinational companies.- Previous experience in the financial sector is highly desirable.- Experience at a Big Four firm (preferred).- Solid technical knowledge in both local and international tax advisory, compliance, and IFRS tax accounting.**Strong Skills**- Leadership: Proven ability to inspire and manage multidisciplinary teams.- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication in English and Spanish (fluent or advanced level).- Decision-Making: Capacity to take initiative and make informed decisions under pressure.- Strategic Thinking: Visionary mindset to anticipate risks and identify long-term solutions.- Problem Solving: Creative and analytical approach to complex tax scenarios.- Team Management: Ability to prioritize, delegate, and develop talent.- Negotiation & Influence: Confidence in interacting with senior stakeholders and regulators.- Tech & Automation: Familiarity with digital tools and automation platforms for tax processes.
