Backend Engineer – Multi-Account Architecture

Our Client is a fast‑growing technology startup operating in the music‑tech industry. Their platform empowers rights‑holders and music creators with streamlined solutions for music file storage, metadata management, and multi‑user collaboration. Job Description We are seeking a Backend Engineer to support the architecture and scaling of a multi‑account music technology platform. This part‑time contract role is estimated to last 6 months. The ideal candidate is self‑driven, execution‑oriented, and passionate about clean backend architecture. Responsibilities Design and develop scalable backend systems for a multi‑account user environment. Implement secure, efficient API layers for an intuitive user experience. Manage and optimize metadata handling and large media file storage. Collaborate with the CTO and product team to quickly iterate on new features. Contribute to platform architecture decisions regarding scalability, performance, and maintainability. Ensure clean and modular code, adhering to backend development best practices. Required Experience and Qualifications Proven experience as a Backend Engineer in production environments. Strong proficiency with Next.js and backend development best practices. Experience with cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Proficiency in MongoDB or other modern NoSQL databases. Experience architecting backend systems for multi‑user or multi‑tenant platforms. Comfortable in a lean, fast‑moving environment with a high degree of ownership. Preferred Skills Experience deploying applications via Vercel or similar platforms. Familiarity with music metadata, storage systems, or digital media workflows. Understanding of secure and scalable API design. Background or interest in music production, engineering, or distribution is a strong plus. Personality Execution‑driven with the ability to take initiative. Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration. Detail‑oriented with a strong sense of ownership. Collaborative, curious, and eager to contribute ideas. Schedule 9 – 1 EST Salary and Benefits Payment in USD or Local Currency according to candidate's preference.
