Overview Senior Manufacturing Engineer Lead the production launch and optimization of flame/torch brazing processes for automotive air conditioning tubing and components , ensuring reliable aluminum joints, process stability, and compliance with OEM standards for quality, cost, and safety. Responsibilities Lead production start-ups and launches for automotive A/C brazing processes. Design, validate, and optimize flame or torch brazing processes for aluminum (tubes, fittings, and IHX assemblies ). Perform machine setup and start-up , including pressure control , gas flow and mix adjustments , flame configuration , and torch setup . Define and standardize critical process parameters (pressure, temperature, time, surface preparation, and local atmosphere control). Diagnose and resolve quality issues (leaks, insufficient/excess filler, porosity, distortion, mechanical strength). Coordinate functional and leak tests; support metallographic analysis as required. Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 , APQP/PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and OEM-specific requirements. Collaborate with design, quality, maintenance, and equipment/consumables suppliers. Train operators and technicians on flame brazing , safety, and best practices. Drive productivity improvements, scrap reduction, and process robustness. Process / Product Scope Automotive air conditioning tubing and assemblies . IHX (Internal Heat Exchanger) assembly and related component joining. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials Engineering, or related field. 5+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing with a strong focus on flame/torch brazing . Proven expertise in machine setup and start-up , pressure control systems , gas adjustments , flame and torch configuration . Demonstrated experience with production launches (APQP/PPAP). Strong knowledge of aluminum brazing for automotive A/C systems. Technical English proficiency (intermediate–advanced). Hands-on technical leadership on the shop floor. Root cause analysis and problem-solving. Effective communication and cross-functional teamwork. Strong focus on safety, quality, and results. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Process stability at launch (Cp/Cpk). Scrap, rework, and leak rate in hermeticity testing. On-time PPAP and launch milestones.
