Field Service Engineer

Job DescriptionDesigns, defines and implements complex system requirements for customers and/or prepares studies and analyzes existing systems. Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions. Provides customer support through the performance of on-site installation, as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems. Checks out and approves operational quality of system equipment. Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system. Serves as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Functional- Performs conceptual process control systems design.- Provides on-site commissioning and start-up as required.- Leadership- Participate with plan, schedule for projects.- Provide verbal and written reports to communicate project status as required and contribute to project review meetings.- Visit internal/external panel manufacturing facilities to assess progress, provide technical assistance and for final inspection.- Complete work package execution with remote or third-party resources.- Interpersonal- Client liaison and interface with management.- Development of customer relationship.- Team player with the ability to integrate with other team project members.- Business- Participate in the overall technical design and implementation, test and startup phases of the systems and/or solutions in scope of the project(s).- All solutions are to be designed and implemented in complete alignment with Sensia standards, design rules and guidelines, and in compliance with applicable international codes/standards. Assures personnel/machinery safety practices are fully implemented.- Performs conceptual review with input data to determine deviations or confirm proposed solution- Ensure that required prerequisites (e.g. design inputs, tools, documentation, deliverables, schedule and budget) are in place prior to commencing work.- Produces functional and detailed design specifications.- Develop required documents per customer standards (electrical panels, P&IDs, loop sheets, and system architecture).- Design and implement technical project scope against the project plan and Functional & Detailed Design Specifications.- Implement programming PLC’s and HMI’s according to Functional & Detailed Design Specifications- Inspect equipment at the factory to ensure compliance with specifications and procurement documentation.- Execute Factory acceptance testing for customers.- Pre‐commissioning, Commissioning and start‐up support to operations.- Design changes, modify documents accordingly.- Attend and contribute to site and project technical meetings as necessary.- Attends, participates in the preparation of technical papers in industry symposiums and trade shows, as applicable.QUALIFICATIONS:- Minimum- Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline (mandatory).- +3 years of experience as a Field Service Engineer/related.- Advanced English level (written and spoken).- Experience implementing traditional Control (DCS) projects and conversions as well as SIS (Safety Instrumented System).- Must have the ability to travel an average of about 40% of the time; however, travel can flex up to 60%.- Experience in electrical design, including schematics and panel layout; programming PLC’s and HMI’s.- Must be available and willing to work overtime on occasion meet customer project commitments.- Occasional travel and work at customer sites, including industrial plants, ships, etc., which may require climbing, working in confined spaces and other unusual work environments.- Desired- Experience with PlantPAx (Logix, Historian, ViewSE, Batch, AssetCentre, VantagePoint)- Knowledge of Sensia Global Logic Solvers AAdvance / Trusted (BPCS and/or Safety Systems).- Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to industrial control systems including the NEC, NFPA 72, 85, 86, IEC61511, IEC 61508, API 14C and UL508ATYPICAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:- Ensure that required prerequisites (e.g. design inputs, tools, documentation, deliverables, schedule and budget) are in place prior to commencing work.- Produces functional and detailed design specifications.- Develop required documents per customer standards (electrical panels, P&IDs, loop sheets, and system architecture).- Identify and analyze design changes and modify documents accordingly.- Assist Project Manager with technical issues and determine changes which may/can have commercial/scheduling impact.- Executes project to appropriate standards and quality management system requirements.- Ensures that the engineered solution meets project requ
