**Description**ISP Upper School Science Teacher Role ProfilePurpose of RoleThe Upper School Science Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging science instruction to students in grades 6-12. The role supports the development of scientific knowledge, inquiry-based thinking, and practical skills through a curriculum that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong interest in science. We positively engage with personal and professional development and school improvement.Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver effective lessons in one or more science disciplines (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science) aligned with the school’s curriculum standards.- Design assessments that measure student progress and inform instruction.- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.- Promote scientific literacy, critical thinking, and ethical approaches to science and research.- Organize and supervise laboratory activities and ensure a safe learning environment.- Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance learning experiences.- Provide academic support and guidance to students, including feedback on performance.- Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum planning and interdisciplinary initiatives.- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.- Participate in school events, parent meetings, and professional development activities.- Contribute to the school community by taking part in extracurricular activities, clubs, or science fairs.- Principio del formularioFinal del formulario**Skills**:- Strong knowledge of scientific content and pedagogy- Ability to foster student engagement through hands-on, inquiry-based learning- Excellent communication and classroom management skills- Adaptability and creativity in lesson planning and instruction- Competence in using digital platforms and scientific tools- Collaborative mindset and team spirit- Commitment to continuous professional growth and reflective practiceQualifications and Experience:- Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Science Education - required- Teaching certification/license - required- Master’s Degree in a related field - desirable- Training in IB, AP, or other international curricula - a plus- Proficiency in English - required (native or near-native level)- Additional certification in lab safety or educational technology - preferred- Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience at the secondary or upper school level- Experience in an international, bilingual, or multicultural educational setting - highly valued- Familiarity with student-centered and inquiry-based learning approaches- Experience integrating STEM practices and interdisciplinary teachingISP Commitment to Safeguarding Principles.ISP is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.ISP Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging
