The Commodity Analyst will support the commodity management team in the areas of supplier management, supply assurance, supplier operational activities & data analysis. Analyst is also responsible for driving on time delivery from Ciena’s component suppliers by managing open orders, order expedites, and suppler escalations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Validates supplier delivery commitments ensuring timely delivery of materials to Ciena’s manufacturing partners. Informs stakeholders of PO delivery changes to ensure production schedule is aligned to new delivery plan- Ensures critical supplier shortages, and/or capacity constraints are identified and drives the appropriate actions & escalations to close supply gaps as quickly as possible- Works effectively with component suppliers to resolve supply gaps for both NPI and production build schedules. Assists with escalation process between internal customer stakeholder and external suppliers.- Communicates Ciena’s material quantities and required dock dates to support manufacturing partners’ production schedule. Responsible for communicating critical forecast changes or pull-in requests to suppliers.- Participates in cross functional production meetings to communicate latest supplier delivery updates and gather new information on Ciena production schedule changes affecting supplier material requirements.- Utilize Kinaxis Rapid Response supply chain planning tool to determine supply gaps impacting future Ciena production builds, validate current EMS PO request dates are aligned to Ciena need dates and drive shortage resolution as required.- Serves as RFQ data manager responsible for generating individual supplier RFQ templates, distributing RFQs to suppliers and consolidating RFQ feedback from suppliers for Global Commodity Manager’s review.- Resolves any pricing discrepancies between Ciena, suppliers & manufacturing partners to ensure compliance to Ciena agreed pricing agreements.- Provide support during supplier Quarterly Business Reviews which includes gathering scorecard data from internal stakeholders, developing scorecard package based on stakeholder input, and serving as support during supplier review meetings.- Supports Global Commodity Managers with data mining, data analysis or data management activities.- Onboards new suppliers into Ciena systems. Task includes gathering the necessary new supplier information, validating all information forms completed, and entering the information into different Ciena digital databases.SKILLS- Excellent interpersonal skills to work with employees and suppliers at most levels throughout the organization- Strong computer skills, especially in Excel, Word and Power Point and database management- Effective written and verbal communication skills- Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex data into simplified data summaries for internal reviewDESIRED CHARACTERISTICS- Team oriented- Self-starter- Organized- Attention to detailEDUCATION / EXPERIENCE- B.S. / B.A. or equivalent- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in materials management functions- ASCM (APICS) certification preferred but not requiredNot ready to apply?
